Darlings, your beloved Prime Minister just saw Mank… one of Fincher’s classiest movies. Very Thatcherian. Restrained Oldman deserves the dildo.

As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

    What about Seyfried?

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", AMANDA SEYFRIED FOR "MANK", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

It’s quite tiring reading this with Thatcher’s breathy impression.

Oldman will always be in my prediction (as long as Mank is still loved and buzzed).

So, Oldman was better than Hopkins?

I’m intrigued as to whether you’re referring to Anderson, Streep or Thatcher the user lol.

Why is Hanks so high on people’s lists? The buzz for his performance seems muted and he’s playing the same person in yet another movie. I don’t see him happening this season when I think the Academy will be striving for a more diverse lineup.

Oldman, Hopkins, and Boseman are all locks and getting in, guaranteed. That top three ranking was pretty arbitrary just because they’re all such sure shots that I didn’t put much thought into how to rank them. Any of those three could have been first, second, or third and it would be the same to me. Not trying to make it seem like he’s a lower-tier contender, sorry.

I really don’t see Boseman winning the Globe. If he wins an outlier award it will be SAG, as they are more of a popularity contest and have given more wins to PoC actors traditionally. The Globes will care less about sentimentality and will go with who they think has the best performance, and the reviews say Hopkins’ performance is career best, which is definitely a higher bar than Boseman’s career best. Like another poster said, I could see a scenario where Boseman and Davis both win SAG.

Boseman’s career best could be better than Hopkins’ career best. Having a smaller filmography doesn’t preclude one from being a good actor lol

Edit: I see you’ve edited your post to say “a higher bar” than “better”.

    Prayers for Riz!

Any news if Sound of Metal is going the streaming route? Or cinema first and then streaming somewhere?

At this point, Boseman is more of a lock for a nomination than Oldman. They’re both from Netflix, and I think it’s pretty obvious based on both reviews and the overall picture that Boseman is going to be the priority.

    rubbish
