👑Cicely Tyson (1924-2021)
👑Mary Wilson (1944-2021)January 20, 2021 at 9:31 pm #1203993972Nope. He’s doing press and the show for the inauguration because he’s Tom Hanks. Even if News of the World had a lot of hype, his chances probably wouldn’t be big given how he was ignored for two decades.
Idk, news of the worl is being pushed as well
I won’t be surprised if he sneaks inAgain, just a thought
January 21, 2021 at 7:16 am #1203994322We never know how reliable are these “voters whispers” but Screen Daily released an article with a couple of them. The Best Actor contenders mentioned:
“Producer 1, female, Bafta and Ampas voter”
So yes, I was irritated at the idea of having to watch another iteration of Ben Affleck as an alcoholic man who can’t express his feelings, but I have been viewing my assigned films dutifully and sat through it.
lmaoooo
“Commissioning executive, male, Bafta and Ampas voter”
And Another Round […] I love Scandi black comedy and this is a near perfect example with a fab performance by Mads Mikkelsen who should be in the best actor conversation.
fingers crossed!
Also a lot of love for Riz Ahmed and Sound of Metal in general

January 22, 2021 at 9:19 am #1203996065I’m sticking with Mikkelsen for that 5th slot. Lots of competition, but he’s the one I’ve seen being singled out for the most praise and has the most iconic scene. I think his film will have high visibility as the International Feature frontrunner, and he’ll probably win the Comedy/ Musical Globe too. I wouldn’t say he’s overdue for a nom necessarily, but he’s been acting at a consistently high calibre for a while and is well-liked so voters may feel like he’s deserving for this role and an accumulation of previous ones, something he has over relative newcomers like Yeun, Ben-Adir and Stanfield and a recent winner like Oldman.

Wouldn’t be mad, he was terrific
January 22, 2021 at 9:32 am #1203996108I’m ruling out JDW. If he didn’t happen with Blackkklansman, he’s just not happening for a mediocre film.
January 22, 2021 at 9:41 am #1203996133With Mikkelsen it all reduces to the Golden Globes lol he benefits a lot from the fact that this year the Comedy/Musical Actor category is completly empty of Oscars contenders. Last year there were at least three (DiCaprio, Egerton, even Murphy), now there’s zero. If he gets nominated (still not sure), he can win, create momentum and maybe appear at BAFTAs with that extended slot.
