Probably my two as well right now alongside Mikkelsen. Chadwick was also outstanding and Oldman was great, still waiting to see Hopkins This lineup is extremely solid.
Very, very solid
I really thought Oldman was great despite what some say

I get the feeling if it was someone else doing the same exact thing as Oldman he’d be getting a lot more hype, but because it’s Oldman and everyone already knows what he’s capable of, they don’t go too crazy over another great performance from him.
January 11, 2021 at 1:20 pm #1203977475…in what way did Hopkins require critics wins?
People are still pretending that it’s November and the father is a frontrunner lol

Yeah, he was excellent. Some people just want to hate on Mank.
All of the Lead Actor performances in contention are worthy for a nomination tbh. I wish the Oscars could pull a Critic’s Choice just for this category so we could get 8 nominations and a tied win.

January 11, 2021 at 1:38 pm #1203977555There are a ton of screenings for One Night coming up if you know where to find them…
January 11, 2021 at 1:45 pm #1203977580I just want Lindo, Oldman and Ahmed to be nominated. They’re my favourites. I love Hopkins in the trailer but I haven’t seen the film

Helena Zengel for News of the WorldJanuary 11, 2021 at 1:47 pm #1203977591…in what way did Hopkins require critics wins?
You’d think he’d steamroll with all the hype about this being one of the “greatest of all time” performances.
January 11, 2021 at 1:49 pm #1203977601I’m not gonna comment in Hopkins because I fear for my life
January 11, 2021 at 3:17 pm #1203977768…idk. I just don’t buy that Oldman is going to get snubbed. But if I’m wrong, I’m wrong.
I am starting to believe Sound of Metal might be a stronger contender than just Sound and Ahmed so he is locked locked locked.
My predictions for now…
Boseman
Hopkins
Lindo
Ahmed
OldmanGonna be pretty tough to kick one of them out of there.
I just love movies. And awards.
January 11, 2021 at 3:28 pm #1203977783Im finding this acting category the hardest one to predict but I actually agree with what LLLhawks is saying that Ahmed is starting to actually look higher than Hopkins, I’ve seen far more passion behind him… though I think they’re both locked for nomination anyway.
What I’m currently needing clarity on is how big of a threat is Mikkelson, I’ve not been keeping up with critics things on the actors side but should I consider slotting him in? I won’t show what I currently have predicted as I am completely unsure about both slot 4 and 5

I could be wrong, but I think he’d have needed more attention from major critics considering the US distributor for his film is Samuel Goldwyn Films, which I believe hasn’t ever had an Oscar-nominated film without a more major co-distributor. But Mikkelsen wasn’t even a runner-up anywhere at the critics trifecta. Even Bleecker Street is better for awards contenders. And yes, Another Round looks like a frontrunner for International Feature but most of the actors branch won’t be voting in that category in stage 1, so they might not see it by the deadline.

I wouldn’t predict him until the Golden Globe nominations announcement. We still don’t know what category placement the HFPA accepted, but if they nominate him as Comedy Actor he can easily win there
