Let’s get real, Hopkins and Ahmed outacted Chadwick, the latter’s chances are more based on sympathy and sadness for his death than anything else.
you absolutely spilled

Supporting Actor: Daniel Kaluuya
Adapted Screenplay: The Father
Original Screenplay: Promising Young WomanFebruary 23, 2021 at 12:55 pm #1204057245What do people have to get so nasty about things in these forums. Like chill.
February 23, 2021 at 1:59 pm #1204057341I agree with you wholeheartedly Ryusei (even though I am a fan of Lindo’s performance) and can understand where you’re coming from but if that’s the reason then I wonder why white actors get away with playing nasty characters. We just saw a someone win Best Actor for playing a psychopath and we’ve seen actors nominated for playing Nazis.
Denzel won for playing a nasty character, the skin color has nothing to do with it

Da 5 Bloods is a bad film, from top to bottom. Thats the problem. And Lindo is not better than 5 other contenders.
February 23, 2021 at 2:43 pm #1204057409That being said: I definitely see how his acting was great and all but the movie almost made me dislike this character so much that I don’t want to see it rewarded??? War veteran, PTSD, family problems I get that someone like that acts differently but some things just made me go: what? Which, again, is probably more an issue I have with the writing then I guess. Bottom line: I can see why people would wanna not vote for it despite the acting being great.
Interesting. This is precisely what attracts me most in performances; see Huppert in Elle.
FYC: Michaela Coel and Rosamund Pike
February 23, 2021 at 2:58 pm #1204057462I don’t think Riz Ahmed has a chance of winning.
If his film was a stronger contender from the beginning (nominee for Best Picture in GG, Best Picture nomination likelihood (which is KEY for Best Actor), and Paul Raci hitting all Supporting Actor industry noms), then he might be stronger. Throw in Chadwick still being alive, and we could suddenly see Riz winning a la Rami Malek in 2018.
I also don’t think Anthony Hopkins will win. I doubt the industry cares if he has not gotten their award, they’re more pressed to predict the Oscar winner.
This is still Chadwick’s race.
By the way, personally, I think Chadwick is more deserving than Riz, and I haven’t seen Anthony’s performance yet.
Movie-lover overall.
February 23, 2021 at 3:24 pm #1204057524…and the reality is that he’s sweeping nothing lol he hasn’t even swept the critics pls
Neither did Anthony. Riz was the critic favorite.

Over 500,000 are dead from COVID in the U.S.
Millions more around the world.
What a tasteless & despicable joke.

👑Mary Wilson (1944-2021)February 23, 2021 at 5:52 pm #1204057752Still holding on to hope that Delroy Lindo can score a nom. He’s definitely the #1 person I want to see nominated in this category.
Would really love it if Delroy, Steven and Riz all made the line-up!
