Viola Davis Frances McDormand Vanessa Kirby Meryl Streep Kate Winslet I am pretty confident about these five because you just couldn’t bid against Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet. You just couldn’t.
Oh no, I have neither.
Viola Davis
Frances McDormand
Vanessa Kirby
Carey Mulligan
Andra DayNovember 30, 2020 at 7:16 am #1203884365Oh no, I have neither. Viola Davis Frances McDormand Vanessa Kirby Carey Mulligan Andra Day
These are my five as well with Loren as an alt.
November 30, 2020 at 7:18 am #1203884372First reactions for The Prom are in and Streep is not getting that many raves. With how competitive this category already is and the fact that Netflix has bigger priorities, I think she’s missing.
Also, I guess you were right Wolfali: Mulligan will easily run away with the Globe now.

Speaking of the Globe, Jo Ellen Perlman looks good to get in now, as she’s the most acclaimed performance from The Prom. Streep will be ahead of her, cause she’s Streep, but it looks like both leading ladies will make it. Probably Corden as well. His reviews aren’t great, but it’s the most barren category so he can benefit.
November 30, 2020 at 7:47 am #1203884450Chile, the cluelessness here is laughable. Streep is not getting nominated here in a quadrillion years. Same goes for Mulligan btw. Day, Davis, Kirby, Loren, McDormand and Winslet are the contenders here.
Streep is way likelier than Loren (and Winslet).
November 30, 2020 at 8:01 am #1203884472when was that and with which films?
The River Wild (Globe + SAG)
The Hours & The Manchurian Candidate (Globe + BAFTA)
November 30, 2020 at 8:41 am #1203884595Streep should give back at least ten Oscar nominations.
There you go, I said it.
November 30, 2020 at 8:52 am #1203884632Not saying this will happen but it would be funny if Mulligan did a Liza Minnelli and won for a dark film with a controversial ending over someone playing Diana Ross lol.
FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"

Another thing I managed to be proven right on.

I wouldn’t call it bitterness. She’s a legend and by far one of the best. People (myself included) are just tired of her getting endless nominations for okay performances over far superior and more deserving contenders.
November 30, 2020 at 9:42 am #1203884749Streep should give back at least ten Oscar nominations.
I wouldn’t say ten. Four or five perhaps? for The Post, FFJ, Music Of the Heart and August Osage.

November 30, 2020 at 9:57 am #1203884774In the space of a week the trailer for Pieces of a Woman has almost been just as watched as the teaser for The Prom in the space of a month.
There seems to be a lot of anticipation for this film.
