Carey Mulligan will basically be the same age Winslet was when she won.

“Viola is not a leading star”

“Vanessa is a nobody”, “Meryl is too old”

They do this every year. Just last year there were people on here heckling Renee Zellweger for how she looked.

I mean this in no disrespect to Vanessa and Frances (their performances were excellent) but I’m so excited that Carey looks set to overtake them in the predictions centre next week if she continues on the trajectory she’s on in the odds!

    2. Viola Davis, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom
    3. Vanessa Kirby, Pieces of a Woman
    4. Frances McDormand, Nomadland

    6. Sophia Loren, The Life Ahead
    7. Meryl Streep, The Prom
    8. Rosamund Pike, I Care A Lot
    9. Robin Wright, Land
    10. Sidney Flanigan, Never Rarely Sometimes Always

I don’t remember the last time I was rooting so much for someone to win: not only she’s one of my favorite actresses, and my favorite performance of the year, in one of my favorite movies of the year, but also would be groundbreaking to see Carey win for a role like this and in a film like this. I mean, I’m sooo sure she will eventually win an Oscar in her life, in the future (maybe altready next year for Maestro!), but to win for PYW… It would be something else.

    2021 Award Season, FYC:

Best Actress: CAREY MULLIGAN for PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN
Best Actor: DELROY LINDO for DA 5 BLOODS
Best Supporting Actress: GLENN CLOSE for HILLBILLY ELEGY

I feel bad for people still depending on December predictions as we turn the corner into February.

Carey Mulligan is only 35, she can absolutely play a 30 year old. Sorry that her face isn’t plastic.

Well I mean this is the same SAG who gave Emily Blunt (the deserving) win for A Quiet Place.
