Honey, when you’re Viola Davis, you’re never overshadowed. 😉 Their performances were matched by excellence. Hence why both have received nominations across the board together. And Glenn lost because The Wife had no momentum outside of her performance. The Favourite was a much bigger player. Unlike Close, Viola’s movie is actually a BP & technical award contender. So let’s not compare the two 😉

I was just using Glenn as an example. But I remember when reactions for Ma Rainey came out and I saw people saying Chadwick was the standout performance of the film. And Netflix has also shifted a lot of their campaigning resources in the film to him. He’s the one getting the most mentions.

And Vice received more nominations than Bohemian Crapsody, yet Rami still won. Bohemian may have been higher up in Picture, sure, but you could definitely have made a case for Bale back then that Vice had broader support than BoCrap

    FYC:
    Carey Mulligan for Best Actress
    Riz Ahmed for Best Actor
Amanda Seyfried for Best Supporting Actress
Daniel Kaluuya for Best Supporting Actor

I hate this season soooo much. I just want to see Carey getting her Oscar and be over with it.

God yes. I’m pretty much camped out in the 2022 thread already.

This thread is in part 33 and we’re still nearly three weeks out from even the nominations being announced.

You’re right. When you’re as gifted as Viola Davis, no role is a challenge 😉 Which is why she collects trophy after trophy.

These other girls need flavor of the moment critical affirmations, stans, & faux narratives to get ahead.

Again, not saying she’s getting snubbed, but tell that to Tom Hanks

The HFPA were even generous enough to give an undeserving push to Regina King in best director. They were even responsible for her embarrassing supporting actress win. The real snubs were Judas and the Black Messiah and Da 5 Bloods. Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom didn’t deserve a best picture nom

    FYC:

    Best Actor :
Riz Ahmed for Sound Of Metal
Delroy Lindo for Da 5 Bloods
    Gary Oldman for Mank

    Best Actress:
Andra Day for The United States vs Billie Holiday
Vanessa Kirby for Pieces of a Woman

    Best Supporting Actor:
Daniel Kaluuya for Judas and the Black Messiah
Paul Raci for Sound Of Metal

    Best Supporting Actress:
    Amanda Seyfried for Mank
Helena Zengel for News of the World

That might be your opinion on Regina but I thought she was deserving

Y’all will let your judgement be shrouded with an obsession to see yet another bland, boring, actress win just to discredit Davis. From the moment Ma Rainey’s was announced, we knew Viola was out front. The role is Oscar bait. Unlike some others, she doesn’t need a manufactured narrative to drum up sympathy. Her performance & talent speaks for itself 😉

Shut the fuck up. You are a broken record with your dumbass theories. Seek help and end that victim claptrap you think pass as legitimate points.

Not people calling a possible win for Carey or Frances boring and bland, when a Viola win would be the most typical and predictable Oscar winning performance on earth. Performances like Carey or Frances rarely win Oscars. If anything, their wins would be inspiring and against type.

Monsoon is definitely the bottom of the barrel. According to the bullshit, if you are a non-black performer, you deserve nothing. It has to be Kord, that is a level of unmatched stupidity.
