I saw this on Twitter but a fun fact after this years nominations is that Carey Mulligan is the only multiple Oscar nominee to have all her nominations come from only female-directed films with An Education and Promising Young Woman.

Queen single handedly ending the patriarchy!

This stat is going to break when she gets nominated again for Maestro.

Since I don’t think anybody has shared them yet, here are the screen time for the Best Actress nominees:

Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday) – 1:27:42 / 67.38%
    Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) – 26:41 / 28.36%
    Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman) – 1:18:32 / 61.53%
    Frances McDormand (Nomadland) – 1:20:56 / 75.21%
    Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) – 1:23:09 / 73.36%

Interesting point! I think they won’t, but we should acknowledge that being a member of SAG-AFTRA is also not that hard. We all can see that many people just got theirs for being a guest/extra. I think that percentage of people will be more open to new actors.

Well, I originally raised the issue because some experts had initially predicted Nomadland would win a SAG ensemble nomination, and when it didn’t, speculated that the reason for the omission was resistance by the acting branch to award non-experienced actors for acting skill.

Viola has a lot less screen time, like not even one fourth of the fellow nominees. 😳😳

This just shows Viola is clearly not lead in Ma Rainey. It’s funny because if she had been placed in the right category she would have a chance at a second Oscar with the category being so open.

Why is this discussion about Viola’s placement still going on? Whether you guys consider her lead or not, that is the category (rightfully, imo) she has been nominated in. We don’t need to keep returning to this.

I forgot who said it, but I am still laughing at the “waiters and DJ’s” vote for SAG comment. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

It’s simply the truth though, lol. If you look up who the members are, they actually list DJs in their description

    If Davis wins SAG:
    Davis vs Day

    If Kirby wins SAG:
    Day vs Kirby vs Mulligan

    If McDormand wins SAG:
    Day vs Mulligan

    If Mulligan wins SAG
    Mulligan

    If Adams wins SAG:
💀.. I mean Day vs Mulligan

This is what I can sum up. I’m open for discussion.

"The Lost Daughter" in every eligible category - Film
"Succession" Season 3 in every eligible category - TV
"Heaux Tales" by Jasmine Sullivan in every eligible category - Music

I agree with the most part. Once Mulligan wins SAG I’d say she really has it in the bag. If anyone else wins then we’re in for a tense and unexpected ride.

Are we still discussing this again. Viola is LEAD, she shares it with Chadwick Boseman.

I thought we MOVED ON from this
