The fact that we won’t know the winner until the envelope is opened is so amazing. It’s how it should be. No boring-ass sweeps.

McDormand still being 2nd in the odds is kinda crazy.

The problem I have is overcoming the suspicion that Andra Day’s Globe win could just be them trying to fight against the racism narrative that they had picked up. I don’t know if that win was real or not so that’s why I’m having trouble predicting her winning. And I know you could ask, then why didn’t they make Viola win? Well maybe they don’t really like Viola that much. Maybe making a young beautiful light skinned black woman win was preferable to them? Why did they make Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who didn’t even get an Oscar nomination, win over Mahershala Ali? The Globes are just like that sometimes.

Anyway, I’m just pondering everything. I think the race is wide open but I just can’t put Andra in first place even though I totally acknowledge that she could win.

I’m not a fan of Davis performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (thought she was overshadowed by Chad), but I’m a fan of the person Viola Davis and I can’t complain about her winning SAG and about the possibility of her winning the Oscar, which is something I still don’t think it’s happening.

The Academy often likes to correct historical injustices like Sam Rockwell being ignored for 10-15 years or Leo not winning until his fine performance for The Revenant, so Viola winning would be great, because she should have won for The Help instead of Miss Polanski.

Viola unbothered. I had my doubts for a bit.

Pantheon of acting: Uta / Elizabeth / Richard / Sandy (Virginia Woolf), Bibi / Liv (Persona), Sandrine (La Ceremonie), Brie (Short Term 12), Jodie (Silence of the Lambs), Jodie (Killing Eve), Nicole (The Others), Eva (Penny Dreadful), Timothée (CMBYN), Lupita (Us)

    Babies, move on

The lady from PYW has negative chances to win. And thank God, her nom is enough of a joke.

Carey Mulligan doesn’t even have a narrative to win, they talk so much about AACTA but I don’t remember Saoirse winning the Oscar last year..
