Gathered my thoughts after seeing Pieces of a Woman.
It’s not a very accessible film, so that will hurt it’s chances at SAG and in any category other then acting. But if they can get through the first 45 minutes, then Kirby will likely be nominated. She is great in that scene and does great work throughout the rest of the film. Burstyn is very good in her scenes (including one particular monologue), but her nomination is much more in the air. Shia is great, so I’m a little surprised he’s not being predicted as much as some other actors but I don’t think he’s really in the race. The cinematography and direction distract from some of the other elements of the film that lack (editing, screenplay). I’m not sure if Kirby will win, because a lot of that depends on how Ma Rainey’s and the US vs Billie Holiday do awards wise. But she is a dark horse no doubt.

I can only imagine how great you felt after the announcement of Viola’s and Vanessa’s battle. That basically confirmed what you were saying the entire time lolFYC:

This won’t really affect who wins the Oscar and I’m not trying to make this like the hunger games lol. However it will be interesting to see if Kirby is going to be an in person attendee for Graham Norton as I’m assuming Viola will be virtual.
I was just saying it will be interesting because Graham Norton hasn’t been very good at letting virtual guests speak whilst his in person ones can’t stop talking and it all ends up being chaotic when the in person and virtual guests are talking to each other.

I love how people on here are like “mediocre reviews” matter yet I’ve seen people considering a universally panned film that Netflix has done zero promotion for acting categories.
I mean I love Glenn and Amy too but I didn’t even realise the film was coming out today. I’ve seen Amy and Glenn do like only one talk show interview each.
