Will Zorkin be the first screenwriter to win both Adapted and Original categories in case he wins?

Far from it. Billy Wilder, Alan Jay Lerner, Ring Lardner Jr., Paddy Chayefsky, Horton Foote and the Coens have all won both awards.

Not sure if that was/was not expected though.

I remember when you predicted PYW to win 3 globes and it won ZERO
ReplyCopy URLMarch 7, 2021 at 7:57 pm #1204093093Trial 7 could still win here. PYW is a very predictable CCA choice.

As could Promising Young Woman. Trial of the Chicago 7 is a predictable Golden Globes choice.
Point being I think like with Actress and S. Actress we won’t know who is winning (and maybe even then won’t know till the Oscars) until SAG/WGA and BAFTA. If Fennell takes BAFTA and Sorkin takes WGA it will be tight.

March 7, 2021 at 8:03 pm #1204093121Trial 7 is a very predictable Oscar choice as well. A safe, socially relevant, historical drama with a ton of characters written by a previously won industry vet with clout. Sounds like a potential winner to me.

Agreed.
Promising Young Woman is a very predictable Oscar choice as well. A controversial, socially relevant drama with dark humour written by a rising star with the industry. Just like Get Out, Jojo Rabbit and Parasite. Without a doubt a potential winner too.

Nomadland literally just won at Critics Choice. It’s winning the Oscar and BAFTA here.

He also won the Globe for another film that he missed a nomination at the Oscars for. He’s definitely a serious contender for the win this time around.
