Keep in mind, half of the contenders weren’t eligible. Especially in Original. I seriously don’t think Sound of Metal is getting in at the Oscars for writing.

Sound of Metal can still make BAFTA (screenplay) and potentially PGA though, unless it misses both, it’s still definitely in the running.

Why not ? It’s more likely than Soul at this point. Sound of Metal is easily the 6th in this category.

I think “Palm Springs” and “Judas” are the easiest to write off due to genre bias for the former and being a late breaking contender for the latter.

You contradicting yourself here. If being a late release was a huge problem for Judas in this category, WGA wouldn’t have been nominated it in the first place.

If it made WGA it’s highly probable it will hit PGA too.

I told you guys the guilds would be good to Judas. I don’t have any hope that it will win the Oscar for Original Screenplay anymore, but maybe it can still win here.

Half of the contenders were ineligible.

I can’t even tell you if Judas will get a Screenplay nom at the Oscars.

Also, The Father continues to underperforn when it’s not being propped up by the British Block. I think it’ll still easily make the Adapted Screenplay lineup at the Oscars, but this is bad for it’s overall chances.

I think Soul is done in Original Screenplay now that Sound of Metal and Judas broke through.

I forgot about that. Disregard that last statement.

I think you’re probably right. It’s only hope is BAFTA right now but I don’t think it will make it there either. Mank, Minari, Judas, PYW, and Chicago 7 looks like a pretty solid Top 5 now.
