Thomas Vinterberg is the first directing nominee since Paul Greengrass to be nominated with only one other category.

Nomadland and PYW are the only ones with Picture, Director and Editing.

The Father was never missing Best Picture with that AACTA and BAFTA combo and the fact it still landed at SAG. I’m glad I stuck to my instincts.

FYC: All things The Crown, Hacks and I May Destroy You (and Hannah Waddingham and Julianne Nicholson whilst you're at it)!!

I switched it at the last minute and also predicted it for Production Design! People really said “BAFTAs are useless this year” huh…

This directing lineup is almost as strong as the 2017 one. I like all the nominees.

I thought a Vinterberg nomination would also string a Mads nomination or cinematography nod. I will be keeping this in mind when predicting international directors now. Bong would be proud of this nomination.

Seems like Nomadland is truly unbeatable now. Chicago 7 missed Director and has only one acting nom, Mank missed Screenplay and Editing, Minari missed Editing. PYW didn’t miss anything important but it’s just not happening.

I read Riley’s comment about how Another Round wasn’t getting in for directing because it’s no Cold War in the previous thread. Then I took out Vinterberg! Darn it all.

With Cannes and Amazon or Neon’s money Another Round would’ve gotten a Best Picture nomination methinks

Green Book won without Director though, right?

I actually switched out Vinterberg for Zeller. Considering how well The Father did I can’t be too mad, I did think that the film would get a lot of support and it did. Was sooo close to putting The Father in Production Design too but didn’t follow through.

I’m so happy I had predicted Vinterberg! Got 5/5 for director 😎
