Regina King can’t even play the race or sexism card here.

It was just an absolutely inferior movie compared to all the other choices.

    If you say so

People will still talk about and revisit Da 5 Bloods and Lindo’s performance over the years, which is not something i can say about half of the BP nominees here.

Also I think The Trial of the Chicago 7’s largely white cast winning in a group of majority black and asian ensembles and poc leads would look quite bad.

Why would that look bad? Trial is the minority cast. If everyone else is black or asian, then white has therefore become the minority.

Trial is going to win SAG because it’s a traditional crowd pleaser, it’s as straight forward as that.

Minari is an even bigger crowdpleaser.

Minari is an even bigger crowd pleaser.

The forum consensus is certainly Minari is the better film.

    But better film ≠ crowdpleaser

Minari is understated if anything, it exists and lets you enter their family without hysterics or overblown moments. It’s realism is it’s strength but not at SAG.

Moonlight is the consensus better film, Hidden Figures is the crowd pleaser. 12 Years a Slave is the consensus better film, American Hustle is the crowd pleaser. That’s how SAG works.

Huns, promising young woman is a top 3 contender it got BP + Director + Acting + Screenplay + Editing.

That’s a winning combo right there.

I never got this narrative that Chicago 7 is crowdpleasing. It’s a dad movie, clearly made by a boomer, but it’s not exactly crowdpleasing. Neither is Minari. There are no crowdpleasing films this year tbh. SAG will went for a non-white film.

Hun, promising young woman is a crowdpleasing film. It’s at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes,
