Lol, she worked for Weinstein right? It’s almost too funny, if it weren’t so gross.

Nomadland will win Picture, Director, and Adapted Screenplay, along with Cinematography. There’s no way that the most Oscars won by a film this year is 3, there will be at least one film that wins 4 Oscars. And it won’t be Ma Rainey because that film wasn’t nominated for Picture, Director, or Screenplay: it will be Nomadland.

Also, American voters don’t care about The Father. It didn’t win anything at CC, SAG, or the Golden Globes (despite the influence of the British block on the latter) and wasn’t even nominated at PGA. Only BAFTA has given it any major attention because of course they would, but the Oscars won’t give it anything.

    John's Best of 2020

    Best Picture: Soul
    Best Direction: The Midnight Sky
    Best Actor: Chadwick Boseman
    Best Actress: Viola Davis
    Best Supporting Actor: Delroy Lindo
    Best Supporting Actress: Amanda Seyfried
    Best Screenplay: Soul

    John's Best of 2021

    Best Picture: Nomadland
    Best Direction: Nomadland
    Best Actor: Lakeith Stanfield
    Best Actress: Frances McDormand
    Best Supporting Actor: Daniel Kaluuya
    Best Supporting Actress: Youn Yuh-Jung
Best Screenplay: Judas and the Black Messiah

Just like they didn’t care about 1917 or The Favourite right?

After the BAFTA win i think the father has a shot at adapted screenplay. I still favor Nomadland though i fear that the father will win nothing because they dont owe any movie a win so i dont buy the „they have to award it SOMEWHERE“ stuff

This is the kind of thinking that kept the Father below ONIM and Ma Rainey in BP and Screenplay, and look how that turned out. The Father was strong enough to overperform on nominations day, it can easily do the same at the ceremony. Underestimate at your own peril.

People still think The Father is in 7th?

I love The Father, but I agree that it won’t win screenplay just because of the “we have to give it SOMETHING” mentality. I wouldn’t be too shocked to see it win Screenplay, but honestly I think Nomadland will ultimately be too hard to beat. If the multiple Nick Vallelonga scandals didn’t hurt Green Book, I doubt one LA Times article (about a largely fabricated “controversy” that the majority of the public and film people aren’t giving two s**ts about) will bring Zhao down.

Emmys FYC: Maya Erskine in PEN15, Paapa Essiedu in I May Destroy You, Keeley Hawes in It's a Sin, Carl Lumbly in TFATWS, Cristin Milioti in Made for Love, Elizabeth Olsen in WandaVision, Billie Piper in I Hate Suzie, Hailee Steinfeld in Dickinson, William Zabka in Cobra Kai

I don’t think people are predicting Nomadland to lose screenplay because of the LA Times article…
