At this point what buzz does One Night in Miami even have apart from Odom-Jr. It doesn’t even seem like Amazon is caring much about it anymore.

It is quite hard to tell. I’m not that clued up on what Amazon is doing with it or Sound of Metal. The latter seems to be getting more attention, but ONIM seems like the safer crowd-pleaser pick they’ll eventually end up putting more weight behind, even though right now I’m not seeing much. I know quite a lot of people are predicting it in Song and I think it could get a Screenplay nom if they do put weight behind it and with that it will probably sneak in to BP if there are 8 or 9 nominees. I doubt it’ll be strong enough to get King in for Director, though.

I was trying to like this post, but I accidentally deleted it. I went to restore it and it did not let me and trying to restore any deleted posts is causing problems. I am going to assume that this is related to whatever bug affected profile pictures. Sorry!

I agree. One Night in Miami is starting to feel like that film that’s safe for nominations in several categories (like Picture, Supporting Actor, Adapted Screenplay, Score, and Song) but won’t be nominated for anything else or win anything. I just don’t see it having much momentum from here on out.

One Night in Miami is not safe for either Picture or Score.

I hope it is their biggest priority. SoM was great and ONIM looks boring. But I’m not sure. Maybe they’ll campaign ONIM more when it’s finally released next week. We can’t forget it was still the runner-up for the TIFF Audience Award.

Yeah, if Amazon ignores ONIM in favour of SoM like Annapurna did with Beale Street in favour of Vice.
