    Chicago 7 is DEAD
If it couldn’t win at a populist organization like the Globes it won win the Oscars.

    Nomadland is here to stay.

    For Your Emmy Consideration:
Matthew Rhys for "Perry Mason" as Leading Actor in a Drama Series
Ethan Hawke for "The Good Lord Bird" as Leading Actor in a Limited Series
Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn for "Wandavision" as Leading and Supporting actress in Limited Series
Tobias Menzies for "The Crown" as Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
MJ Rodriguez for "Pose" as Leading Actress in a Drama Series.

We have seen this picture before, a film wins Globes, BAFTA, even PGA, but the runner-up, a more consensual winner comes up at top at the oscars. Chicago can still win the Oscar, Nomadland might peak too soon.

I’m super happy about this. I just saw Nomadland a couple of days ago and it’s not only the best film of the year, but the best film of the last two years. When it will win Best Picture it will join Parasite as one of the best Best Picture wins of all time. It’s rare that I see a film as unique and different as Nomadland, a film that does something new, but Nomadland did exactly that. Chloe Zhao’s approach to directing the film like a documentary gives it an intense sense for realism that really makes you connect with the world and stories it presents. Joshua Hames Richard’s fantastic handheld cinematography only further enhances this approach. The story is poignant and incredibly heartfelt: touching on issues like income inequality and societies’ willingness to cast out and forget out it’s lower-class citizens, without preaching to the audience. It’s the perfect story for post-Pandemic America. Frances McDormand is phenomenal is Fern and David Straithiarn does a great job as well: I would love to see him coattail at the Oscars.

In many ways Nomadland reminded me of the French New Wave and Italian Neo-Realist films, in the sense that it’s a very realistic story that doesn’t follow traditional movie norms and a film qhee the characters don’t grow and overcome their problems the way you expect. I was expecting Fern, who seems to suffer from APD, to overcome her loner attitude and settle down with someone, but she never does, and I appreciate that.

Anyway, sorry this is long, but I just really love Nomadland and I’m happy about the Globe win because I’m pretty sure this means it’s sweeping the season. I know I’ve said that 2nd place always wins but if the Globes, who love Sorkin and populist films, didn’t vote for Chicago 7, I can’t imagine the Oscars will. And we all know the other precursors will just follow the Globes.

They completely underestimated the emotional impact of the film.

Like I said, the perfect film for the pandemic. It really couldn’t have come at a better time.

When will people learn that Nomadland is EVERYONE’S taste. It won Golden Lion, it won People’s Choice, it swept the critic awards, it won the Globe, and now it’s going to sweep the rest of the precursors and win Best Picture.

Nomadland will be the most dominant Best Picture winner since Return of the King.

Some avid Hillbilly Elegy fans on here should take their medication. They seem to be contradicting themselves.
