I think Tucci is only officially lead at the Globes as the HFPA overturned his supporting submission. He’s still submitted supporting at SAG and can continue to campaign in that category.

I really don’t get the Tucci talk on here. Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy and he looked great in that trailer, but he’s got an unreliable distributor and his film is really lacking in hype.

He’ll probably just show up at the BAFTAs.

Pundits were desperate for more contenders and tried to make fetch happen.

This is exactly how I feel. It hasn’t shown up at any of the critics awards and got completely shut out of the BIFAs (the latter of which we know it was eligible at as it was long listed in several categories).

With Trevante and Tucci (who wasn’t really happening anyway) now in lead, is this category just gonna be Chicago, Miami and Kaluuya?

I still think the Academy will go big for Nomadland and give David Straithiarn a nomination. I also think Murray and Glynn Turman will make it in.

Just a random shoutout but despite the fact that he was never in the running, Will Patton in Minari is one of my favourite supporting performances of the year.

Still celebrating Supporting Actress - Youn Yuh-jung (Minari)

Mank is a film tailor made for Oscar consideration. I would NOT be surprised if one of the supporting actors sneaks in.

Boseman is more than likely going to be a double nominee.

Baron Cohen gives me precursor favorite who’s ultimately snubbed in favor of another “serious” actor from the same movie.

having just seen Nomadland, which I enjoyed, I’m surprised to see Straitharn in so many predictions. He does precisely nothing in the movie.

It being tailor made for oscars was precisely what went wrong with it. It will be lucky to hang on to the actors already being predicted for it. I doubt it gets more.

The funny thing about all these critic awards is that they’re pointless because as soon as Kaluuya shows up he’s sweeping.

The actual funny thing is that the critics awards reward who they like, unlike the televised ones which are just a populist scramble to be the most accurate predictor for the big one.
