Not trying to be offensive but is Boseman meant to be really good in this or are people only predicting him because of his tragic death? Posthumous Oscars are pretty rare.

He is said to have given his finest performance of his career in it. And I also believe that his tragic passing will play a role in it all — how could it not?

Oscar FYC -- Give Viola Davis her second Oscar!

Yeah I’m pretty sure at the very least Boseman would have gotten nominated even if he hadn’t sadly passed away.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

    From New York Times:

The role will be a revelation for fans who know Boseman only as the stoic superhero T’Challa. He brings an electrifying physicality to Levee, whether he’s wrestling with a past full of trauma, seducing Ma’s girlfriend, Dussie Mae (Taylour Paige), or tearing into a pair of monologues that culminate in Levee raging at God. Shot through with movie-star charisma and practically assured of Oscar recognition, it is Boseman’s finest screen performance.

Even if Boseman doesn’t win, he sure as hell is getting nominated.

FYC Oscars: Chloe Zhao (Nomadland), Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods), Mark Rylance (Trail of the Chicago 7), Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Soul (Best Picture, Best Animated Feature Film, and Best Original Screenplay)

FYC Grammys: Circles (Album of the Year), Good News (Record and Song of the Year), Future Nostalgia (Album of the Year), Don't Start Now (Record and Song of the Year), Everything I Wanted (Record and Song of the Year)

For those who have seen Nomadland, how’s Strathairn looking for a nom? I think Boseman’s got this no matter what, but still curious who he could be nominated with.

Not so much in my opinion, he does nothing particular, he’s good (I like him and I find him a very underrated actor), but he could be a coattail nom for Nomadland.

Lol. Did you even read the reviews for The Trial of the Chicago 7? Rylance is by far the most acclaimed of the cast and he’s a previous winner. I really don’t understand the sarcasm.

What are the odds that Sacha Baron Cohen decides to go Supporting instead of Lead for The Trial of the Chicago 7, in order to campaign for Lead for Borat 2?

If he does do that, how do you think this will affect the Best Supporting Actor race?

Everyone has said there is no concensus pick for the best performance in Chicago 7. And none of the reviews I saw mentioned Rylance at all.

    Aight…

He’s my 5th slot right now, but I don’t have anyone from Chicago 7 on the board. I want to watch it first to see who stands out.
