well maybe she should stop releasing films in years where there are clearly better performances lol

She doesn’t need to have the best perfomance lol. If the Oscars always rewarded the best performances of the category, more than half of the winners would be completely different. She just needs a strong movie.

… she would have won for FA, DL and The Wife.

Crazy(ish) theory which I don’t think will happen but not gonna discounting it altogether. NBR goes to Allison Janney for Bad Education.

This category doesn’t a definitive frontrunner so there’s no pressure from that aspect, she never got NBR for I Tonya (Metcalf won) and it’s a HBO-film (whose sister company WarnerBros, NBR has an absolute hard on for).

Edgar Ramirez was LAFCA runner up in 2010 for Carlos so it’s not implausible for Janney to win.

    What even is SFFILM awards?

It’s like a payola award to keep yourself visible much like Glenn’s Hollywood Film Awards 2 years ago. Basically Glenn’s award is for performance of the year (for Hillbilly Elegy), which awarded Adam Driver for Marriage Story last year, Amy Adams for Vice in 2018, Kate Winslet for Wonder Wheel in 2017 and a slew of non-factors before that.

One night in Miami got the ensemble award here but it would actually probably materialize into the equivalent category at SAG

Yes, to not write her off cause she’s still very much in the race and could definitely snatch that Oscar.
