I am very confident in Helena Zengel and News of the World in general but it seems like many others aren’t. Genuinely wondering: why are people so skeptical about the film’s chances?

I think people are skeptical after Hillbilly Elegy flop and because of how old fashioned it looks.

Paul Greengrass is a consistent director, much more than Ron Howard to say the least. Green Zone and the last Bourne movie were his only films with rotten scores. I liked the trailer. It seems visually beautiful and the kid performance looks good. Universal did really well the last two years with Green Book and 1917 (both old fashioned films like this) and this is probably gonna be their main contender.

I’ll be disappointed if News of the World is not good.

Truly. Clasterfuck is putting it mildly.

The way Allison Janney and Letitia Wright would be running away with this category if eligible.

Not sure about Allison Janney, since she couldn’t even happen at the Emmys lol. But Letitia Wright could’ve honestly win this whole thing with proper campaign.

You are not too late to embrace the real strong possibility of Glenn Close winning this time. The only other contender, in slot 2, is Sherfield. I recommend you, so sceptical about the reality, to not waiting until the ship is sailed.

Wait….so the “pundits” here who were on the ‘Glenn is not getting nominated/winning’ bandwagon are now changing their tune?  I am shocked *yawn*.

“I saw her as the Cameron Diaz of her generation, someone who would be seen more as a comedian,” David Fincher said. When he reached out to Amanda Seyfried for the role in MANK, she cried.

Glenn will be nominated and let’s just leave it at that. Think about it, her recent Oscar loss is still fresh in voters’ minds. This performance is sort of an unofficial “reminder” that she missed out on the Oscar just recently, and now they are presented with another opportunity to award her. She’s in her 70s and who knows if she’ll even be nominated again in the future. Now is the time, especially with such an open category like this.
