Also, when was the last time a performance won in supporting for being its film sole nomination?

    Those rarely happen.

That’s a lie. It’s easier to win an acting category in supporting being a film’s sole nominee than it is for lead.

The thing is: The HFPA, who will set the tone, don’t care about critics and the internet — like at all. They might have loved Hillbilly — it plays better for people who are removed from U.S. politics — and might not think in terms of, “There’s no point in nominating Glenn for this.” We’ll see on Wednesday I guess.

Technically Sandra Bullock could be added to the above list as her film had only one other above-the-line nomination: Best Picture. Although I suppose it being a BP nominee precluded Miles from listing it.

Gotta say I hate this theorys like they are not going with Colman over Close for a second time or give Burstyn a second before giving Close her first.

By that logic, why would they give one to Seyfried or Bakalova in a Borat movie before Close gets her first or go with the other gramma that nobody knew five months ago?

    Guess nobody is winning.

I love Saoirse so much and a lifetime ago, I thought this gonna be between her and Glenn. Anyway, no, I don’t think she has a chance. Her performance is already forgotten. If someone is going to pop up somewhere, it’s gonna be Kate.

Glenn Close is the only deserving candidate this year

Amanda was surprisingly good, but that should not even land her a nomination, since she is mostly awful.

The other four should really be Candice Bergen, Amy Adams, Toni Colette and Ellen Burstyn.

I don’t think so. I understand where you’re coming from (and I made such a prediction before watching Ammonite) but Robbie was considered the MVP of her film and delivered a transformative performance. She was also playing a real person. Ronan’s performance is the most divisive part of Ammonite and her performance is subtler and colder.

I frankly think the furthest she gets is a BAFTA long-list.

I think we’re going to get a curveball in this category at SAG I just don’t know who it will be.

I think the same thing. I think SAG will shock us with its nominations.
