I just watched Borat 2 and I agree: Maria Bakalova is fantastic. I doubt that she will be remembered by the Oscars, but perhaps at other awards. I suppose it will depend on the repercussion of the film for the next few weeks.

Pete Hammond said Amanda Seyfried is amazing in Mank. Called her a “revelation” and said she’s the one you think about after you see the film.

    guess i gotta update predictions

Not sure how much this means for her chances but “Oscar” is the first thing that comes up when you search for Maria Bakalova’s name on Twitter.

How many people here WANT Colman to win over Close again?

There’s a chaotic part of me that does, and I’m a Hillbilly Elegy anti, but god damn do I think they should get the Glenn Oscar out of the way. The “Glenn Close snubbed” narratives are as basic and repetitive as the Leonardo Dicaprio ones, I think they make whatever category she’s in a snooze for predictions and discussions.

Amanda Seyfried winning over Glenn though…

I love Colman. She is a lovely person. Oscar is a popularity contest and I think that’s how she won.

Glenn Close has always been much more overdue than Leo. Leo’s overdue narrative was absolutely ridicolous and was driven by the media and his crazy fans. IMO he was NEVER overdue. He’s extremely talented and delivered amazing performances since a very young age but he was never the best in his category and he was never THAT competitive for the win before The Revenant. Oscar pundits and fans have always pushed for a Glenn win because she’s a legend, has a career full of iconic performances and movies and is one of the best actresses alive. Simple as that and I don’t see any wrong in that.

She’s great. It’s not classic Oscar material, but it’s high-quality acting. But then I remember Melissa McCarthy wasn’t Oscar material also (BRIDESMAIDS).
Hope BORAT SUBSEQUENT MOVIEFILM gets a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination… the movie’s satire is pure comedic gold

I mean, that’s great for her, but we’d need quite a few contenders to flop for this to happen.

They said no to Baron Cohen for the first film, I doubt they’d nominated a Borat performance now.

Her performance was hilarious! But I would argue she’s more lead than supporting.

So I guess she’s 2nd place over Colman then.

    Any word on Lily Collins?

Not sure he only talked about amanda, but just judging by the poster I think they’ll just go for seyfried. But maybe collins could get in since the category is pretty fluid atm.

Whose still left, isn’t it just Close, Colman & Seyfried and throw a dart for 4-5 right now.
