Rules and regulations for the 94th annual Oscars have been approved by the AMPAS board of governors and were recently released.

Perhaps the biggest change announced, the Oscars are returning to a set number of 10 nominees for Best Picture, rather than the recent rule that between five and 10 films could be nominated depending on vote totals. This is clearly in hopes of getting more popular crowd-pleasers in contention and hopefully helping dwindling ratings that hit an all-time low for the April 25 Oscarcast on ABC (admittedly severely impacted by Covid considerations and theaters being closed all year for the most part).

This also of course is all about meeting certain standards in the actual making of Best Picture contenders. This past year, for instance, some talk surrounding Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and One Night in Miami as too stage-y for Best Picture consideration might have prevented their nominations in the top category. Conversation seems to suggest they were in 9th and 10th places and — under the new changes — they would have secured nominations.

Oh, that’s what prevented those films from getting in? Lol ok sure.

When will they have a “Stunt Coordinator” or “Casting” category?

When they nominate stuff like The Blind Side (I won’t lie I like the movie) and Incredibly Loud so they get rid of the 10 nom rule lmao

The latter was under the current system. Actually, the second and last year they did a top 10 (2010) they did the consensus picks so I’m kinda unsure why they changed it after that year…

There should only be 5 films that should be nominated for Best Picture not 10

There is not such a thing as greatest actor of all time, the question is very subjective, is impossible to choose only one.
