That being said, I love Will Smith too, so I’m totally here for him as well.

Samuel L. Jackson was nomination worthy for

    The Hateful 8
    Jackie Brown
    Pulp Fiction
    Jungle Fever
    Changing Lanes
    Django Unchained

Will Smith was likely second the year he lost (The Pursuit of Happyness) to Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland). Will was sublime in that role.

I really want Will to win his Oscar. That’s all I got right now.

I still have no idea if Jamie Dornan goes Lead or Supporting but if he does my predictions in the category for now are:

    1. Will Smith (King Richard)
    2. Benedict Cumberbatch (The Power of The Dog)
    3. Leonardo DiCaprio (Don’t Look Up)
    4. Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth)
    5. Jamie Dornan (Belfast)

I still think Adam Driver will be nominated for House of Gucci.

He was never second. All the other performances were similarly regarded. The late Peter O’Toole had a better narrative than Smith and Gosling had the more critically well-regarded performance. And DiCaprio’s film was nominated in more than one category…

A very annoying young man, who loves cinema. 🙂

I don’t think Dornan can get nominated in lead. Maybe Balfe can but even she won’t be a sure thing. I think they will push them both supporting, where Dornan can get nominated and Balfe can potentially win.

    Current predictions:

Benedict Cumberbatch, The Power of the Dog
    Leonardo DiCaprio, Don’t Look Up
    Jamie Dornan, Belfast
    Adam Driver, House of Gucci
    Will Smith, King Richard

It kills me to have Will Smith in my predictions; I really dislike him and find his acting merely competent and no more than that – he does movie star acting and not real acting imo. His film doesn’t appeal to me at all. I sure hope they give it to someone else!

I wish Anthony Ramos could be nominated but I am aware that it won’t happen. What a joyful and wonderful performance!

If Jude Hill is placed rightfully in Lead Actor he could get a nomination here but I think they will place him in Supporting Actor – like they did with Jacob Tremblay for Room (and don’t get me started on how wrong it was that he wasn’t nominated! But he should have been nominated in Lead Actor).

I don’t think King Richard will be nominated for Best Picture. Lately there have only been eight nominees and I see at least 8 films ahead of it (Belfast, The Power of the Dog, House of Gucci, West Side Story, Don’t Look Up, CODA, Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, Spencer).

Why would this film do particularly well at the box office? I am not predicting it for BP at all.

From next year on there is a slate of 10 Picture nominees every season, so we luckily don’t have to play that game anymore!

    FYC - Oscars 2022:
    A HERO:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Director
    - Best Original Screenplay
    - Best Actor (Amir Jadidi)
    - Best International Feature

NINE DAYS in all categories, including:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Director
    - Best Original Screenplay
    - Best Actor (Winston Duke)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Zazie Beetz)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Benedict Wong)

    RIDERS OF JUSTICE:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Original Screenplay
    - Best Actor (Mads Mikkelsen)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Nicolas Bro)

    – Will Smith (not always as guaranteed as it once was but if he and the film are getting good buzz I think his fans will be more than happy to come out and support the film)
    – Venus/Serena love
    – Crowdpleasing

And it’s actually getting good reviews, compared to something similarly commercial like The Blind Side. I don’t know how much money it’ll make in this environment but I’m expecting it to be one of the highest grossing contenders this year, at least.
