It’s just a made up rumor, it won’t affect him.

I know this thought won’t go over well with this group, but I watched Dear Evan Hansen last night and I think Ben Platt is worthy of an Oscar-nom for his performance. Say all you want about his age and appearance, but he DELIVERED. I don’t even know how someone can cry and sing at the same time like he does, but his performance during “Words Fail” is gut-wrenching. I can’t imagine any other actor in the role. He owns the character that he created and I’m glad he reprised the role.

I am seeing this movie tomorrow and am quite excited by it. I saw Ben Platt on Broadway in this is his Tony-award winning role and I am also looking forward to seeing if the word of mouth about Julianne Moore being great is true too.

I have never understood why certain performances gain traction in the Oscar race sight unseen and others get trashed sight unseen. It has always been a huge mystery to me!

I will of course form my own opinions about the movie but your excitement adds to mine!

I watched the movie last night. The reason why Ben Platt is not going to be nominated for an Oscar is that stage acting and screen acting are two different things and he does not seem to be aware of that.

Another reason: This race, like many other categories this Oscar season, has no need for such “filler” nominees.

I wonder what new mental gymnastic BAFTA will find to snub Denzel yet again. He’s literally playing MACBETH

I think they’ll ensure a nomination this season because of the jury system.

I’ll be damned if the BAFTA jury snubs Denzel this time round with how he’s never been nominated there and has a raved about performance (as a protagonist of a Shakespearean player no doubt).
