The Will Smith predictions are probably going to flop so hard. Just what we needed – a critically praised Denzel performance and possible 9th nomination.

I guess Denzel could win if the voters can decipher half of what he means. Not a fan of Shakespeare so I know I’ll be like this while watching.

If Tragedy of Macbeth is nominated in Best Picture, I will switch my prediction to Denzel immediately. Otherwise I am assuming King Richard will get nominated in Picture and stick with Will Smith.

For example Kathy Bates seems to beat Julia Roberts to the punch when they’re rival nominees: 1991 Oscar ceremony and 2014 Emmys and the coolest trivia of all is that a Huston was in the audience — Anjelica at the Oscars and Danny at the Emmys.

But that’s nothing. Blanchett beat Streep a ton of times for different ceremonies on different awards seasons: right now I recall the Bafta (The Aviator/The Manchurian Candidate), the Globe (Elizabeth/One True Thing) and both SAG and Oscar (Blue Jasmine/August: Osage County) and there might be more. I think Streep beat her at the CC (Doubt/The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) but I’m not sure.

I hope Smith wins and I hope MacBeth doesn’t get nominated in BP and BD as a payback for Coens (True Grit) pushing Nolan (Inception) out.

I can’t see Denzel winning for Macbeth. He’ll be that undeniable to win a 3rd Oscar? Frances wasn’t undeniable last year, but she was in the BP winner at least and the race was divided.

What will you do if King Richard isn’t nominated for Best Picture? Or if neither film is nominated for Best Picture???

He doesn’t need to be undeniable. I haven’t seen this level of enthusiasm for him before. Even Fences didn’t have this heat.

Whats this undeniable talk? Neither streep nor Mcdormand were undeniable for their third.

She was wondering why “King Richard” did not play TIFF, because it could have won, and she said that it’s probably because of COVID regulations that Will Smith didn’t want to attend TIFF and Telluride.
