Most interesting story in this category to me is what the Netflix strategy will be. It’s been assumed that their priorities would be Cumberbatch and Leo, but given all the early love for Garfield/TTB, can they really get three in? Do they drop Leo? Is Garfield gonna fizzle out? The movie is obviously stronger than we all thought it would be a couple weeks ago.

The wiser investment would be to push DLU for BP, and push Garfield – the only one who has risen up to challenge Cumberbatch and Smith at the top of the pile thus far – for Actor. Leo seems to be great in an ensemble film, which isn’t enough a field this competitive this year.

It’s possible that Garfield would be ranked 2nd on some people’s lists regardless of who is first. I don’t see Leo getting that high up the ballot. Let him get the nom off of his star power if he’s going to get in.

Cumberbatch has 2. Just trying to keep you honest.

Yeah he added one since I posted that!

    1. Smith
    2. Cumberbatch
    3. Washington
    4. Garfield
    5. Dinklage or Isaac

    Movie-lover overall.

Just like last year, I don’t trust Netflix capacity to manage and sustain a lot of contenders at once. Benedict + Andrew or Leo, but I don’t see the three of them nominated.

    Best Actress: Alana Haim

    Best Actor: Simon Rex

I know @ FilmUpdates is kinda campaigning for Andrew Garfield, but they’re really nasty for making this clickbait.

I’m so happy for Andrew Garfield. Loved him since Parnassus.

I just love movies. And awards.

After watching TPOTD, I am not sold on Cumberbatch being an Oscar winner. It’s Smith for me until I see the others.
