It’s odd to me that with all of this talk about diversity and yet the one performance by a poc who can actually win this year – Jennifer Hudson in Respect – is being disrespected all over the place in these forums!

I am looking forward to seeing Spencer and I love Kristen Stewart – if she deserves it more than Jennifer Hudson I will be truly happy for her, like her more than JH personally. But JH’s performance is extraordinary and absolutely is Oscar-worthy. There are more than one Oscar-worthy performances every single year and every once in awhile all 5 nominees are deserving (rarely, but it does sometimes happen).

We have 3 more months before we can have any certainty of who really are the frontrunners. Speculation is all we are doing right now and so let’s just have fun with it and not take it so seriously yet!

tbh there are more than 2-3 woc contenders we just don’t hear about them a lot because streaming services or distributors don’t give them the enough attention and just dump the film. i mean look at last year’s bafta lead actress lineup

I feel like that’s partly on us, too. For example, people are support the hell out of Viola Davis, but they don’t do the same to some of the other actresses. We collectively should be a part of the conversation more – and those who have the platform to use their voice should use it in favor of POC contenders more.

The fact that someone so worthy as Alfre Woodard  in Clemency wouldn’t even register with critics is truly about the lack of visibility and the fact that studios don’t spend much on campaigning for performers like her or movies like Clemency. Shameful.

Is Frances lead or supporting? Nothing can be said from the trailer, it is very cool tho and definitely a contender for cinematography.

Doesn’t look like McDormand can make into Lead for this movie. She may have a better chance in supporting. But you never know. McDormand is McDormand.

    Not at all.

I wish we had more of her in the teaser tho. I’m sure the film will be fantastic.
