I don’t understand why everyone is upset when we talk about previous Oscar races in this year’s Best Actress thread. It’s literally the place and time to bring up previous examples and evaluate the races. Sure, Lawrence hates are irritating, but other than that, I don’t understand the fake outrage again.

As of the yearly contest, I have the same five as before. I have to know about Berry and Kidman, also about McDormand’s and Blanchett’s category placements before I change my predictions.

Hate to be judgy based on a teaser trailer, but Rooney Mara seems to be the most vanilla and more likely to be sacrificed here, so Blanchett and Collette can go for the double mentions in supporting.

    FYC 2022 Emmys:

Best Actress in a Drama Series: Sandra Oh in "Killing Eve"

Best Actress in a Comedy Series: Sandra Oh in "The Chair"

Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series: Kim Joo-ryoung in "Squid Game"

I feel like Nightmare Alley is a bit overhyped as an Oscar contender. Idk, I’m not really feeling it for Guillermo’s picture this time, unlike TSoW back then. Maybe because it’s not going to any festival (TSoW won the Golden Lion, and was also screened at TIFF and Telluride). We’ll see

Dont judge whos gonna win On my list in Random order Kristen Stewart Jessica Chastain Penelope Cruz Halle Berry Jodie Comer ( if the film hits ) ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. waiting list Tessa Thompson Sandra Bullock Caitriona Balfe (hope Supporting ) Nichole Kidman ( hope next year )

“Stop trying to make Jodie Comer happen, she is not going to happen!” R. George

Lol I love a Mean Girls reference

Jodie Comer can happen in supporting, I feel pretty confident about that. I don’t think she can un lead—she’s not the sole focus of the movie the way so many of these other actresses are (Chastain, Stewart, Hudson, etc.)

A bit off-topic, but The Bodyguard is getting a remake. The role screams JHudson.

Meanwhile, I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate Spencer‘s 90% on Rotten Tomatoes & 85% on Metascore (with a Must See badge) & 3.8 rating on Letterboxd. This is excellent news for Stewart, and frankly, she didn’t need her film to be raved as well, but it is, so here’s to Miss Stewart! 🙂

The way people pretend to have passion for Chastain’s Zero Dark Thirty performance just because they don’t like JLAW’S win is hilarious. Chastain is great but you guys are the only ones who think that performance was one of the most memorable ever.

This. I remember that time and there was an immediate concern, once the movie was seen, that her blank slate character was not going to fly with enough voters. Her performance was good for what it was, but that character was barely a character, more a plot-forwarder than anything. Not her fault, blame weak writing that didn’t give her much to do. And by that I don’t mean actressing. I mean it’s hard to get people attached to someone who has no life, no likes or dislikes, no relationships to speak of, just a single-minded focus on catching Bin Laden. She might as well played a robot.

I don’t think that will happen, but I can see it being remade. Its not like the original film is a masterpiece…..we all love it and the soundtrack though. A Star is Born has been remade 3 times…so I don’t see the big deal in re-doing it.

However they’d need to do completely original music for this to work….covering Whitney’s songs would be a mistake.

@kallewickans… Girl… you’re my favorite Berry supporter on here, but seeing the raves for Spencer, and now visually seeing TEOTF, and also Colman, Cruz, etc. I don’t think Berry is happening.

Netflix trailers sometimes even come out a month before a film’s release if they’re not a big player for picture/series so it wouldn’t surprise me if Bruised‘s trailer doesn’t come out till next month.

SPENCER: Kristen Stewart is finely attuned to the role of Diana, but Pablo Larrain’s campy take on the Princess of Wales is pure fantasy porn and absolutely defiant of reality. It plays like a well-polished SNL skit rather than a substance-filled account of Diana’s inner demons.

Lmao it seems the movies this year are either campy or horror.
