Kidman has yet to be nominated for an R rated movie.

It’s a shame, she deserved for To Die For, Dogville and Destroyer… I’m not sure if The Others was rated R…

    FYC:

Swinton, Weerasethakul Memoria, (Best Actress, Director)
Efira, Rampling, Wilson Benedetta (Best Actress, Supporting Actress/Actor)
    Rapace Lamb (Best Actress)
Stewart, Hawkins, Spall Spencer (Best Actress, Supporting Actress/Actor)

    FYC:

Efira, Rampling, Wilson Benedetta (Best Actress, Supporting Actress/Actor)

THOMPSON, folx, THOMPSON. If the raves for Negga are to be believed, ofc those for Thompson too.

God, I really hope Passing happens. I don’t mind sacrificing another fave (The Lost Daughter) for it because it is a GROUNDBREAKING work in a way nothing else is.

    FYC:
Picture: The Power of the Dog, Passing, The Lost Daughter, Drive My Car
    Director: Jane Campion, Rebecca Hall
    Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch, Hidetoshi Nishijima
Actress: Tessa Thompson, Olivia Colman, Kristen Stewart
Supporting Actress: Kirsten Dunst, Ruth Negga, Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Martha Plimpton
Supporting Actor: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jesse Plemons, Andre Holland, Troy Kotsur, Richard Jenkins, Reed Birney

Most impressive thing about macbeth was this was the first time frances wasnt the best thing about a movie in forevs. That being said, likely spells doom for her race to her fourth

The best thing about Nomadland was Chloe Zhao’s directing Chloe Zhao’s writing and Chloe Zhao’s editing, not that.

You guys only seem to mention the flopping with Chastain, yet you’d deny her raves, the nature and baityness of her role, and the reception of her movie among the general audience (currently 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, B+ on Cinemascore, 3.44 on Letterboxd which is a better score than The Lost Daughter‘s or Parallel Mother‘s).

Box office floppage is absolutely irrelevant if the audience likes the movie and the critics are raving about Chastain. The industry will not care about box office, they will watch the film and support Chastain’s transformative turn.

Let’s face it. Some of you just want Chastain to fail because you are tired of average biography films competing for Oscars.

    FYC 2022 Emmys:

Best Actress in a Drama Series: Sandra Oh in "Killing Eve"

Best Actress in a Comedy Series: Sandra Oh in "The Chair"

Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series: Kim Joo-ryoung in "Squid Game"

I mean, I’m definitely tired of average biopics competing for Oscars, but I don’t think anyone genuinely wants Chastain to fail. Maybe I’m naive in believing that, but I highly highly doubt that certain users would be happy to see her miss the nomination or lose the win unless they’re Grace Randolph.

    FYC
Dune in All Categories (esp. Director, Score, Sound, and Visual Effects)
Spencer in All Categories (esp. Actress, Cinematography, and Costume Design)
The Worst Person in the World in All Categories (esp. Original Screenplay and International Feature)
Flee in All Categories (esp. Animated Feature, Documentary Feature, and International Feature)
The Power of the Dog in All Categories (esp. Actor and Adapted Screenplay)

The problem with multiple times Oscar winning actors/actresses is that every time we expect them to better themselves which may not be possible. Yes, they’re often great as per usual but there’s no surprise factor to it, it’s not entertaining as the first time. So, I think, this is what one of the previous commenters meant, when they said they’d hate to see a certain someone winning again.
P.S.  It’s so funny that some people went from “she ain’t getting nominated” to “she ain’t winning” in such a short time referring to Stewart’ chances.

Reminds me of those who went from “She is absolutely winning the Volpi Cup and the Oscar” to “she is getting nominated”…
