Supporting Actress wins usually go to first time nominees. I don’t know exactly how to identify the hesitation of Oscar voters with Amy Adams? Taken for granted like previous multi-nominees who never won competitively.

Weren’t you arguing Oscar nominations triumph Emmy wins in prestige? Janney was a 7 time Emmy winner while Chastain has 0 Emmy nominations so their cachet can’t really be considered tantamount.

Being a 2 time Oscar nominee doesn’t make you overdue anyways just ask  Linney, Bening, DiCaprio, Winslet, Williams, Pitt, or Close who lost on their 3rd Oscar nomination.

    Michelle Williams Oscar campaign manager.

You don’t have to like her but she’s a beloved and respected figure in the industry. She’s worked with Scorsese, Tarantino and is currently filming a movie being directed by Damien Chazelle and will also be in Wes Anderson’s new movie. Her character Harley Quinn is a pop culture icon and her iteration of the character has been a popular Halloween costume since 2016. Robbie also seems popular at BAFTA (she got nominated for MQOS and got double nominations for Bombshell and OUATIH) and SAG (got nominated for MQOS). She’s also a successful producer in her own right and produced films that won Oscars (I, Tonya and Promising Young Woman). Robbie also produced the Netflix show Maid, starring Margaret Qualley, her OUATIH co-star.

She’s doing well, but she’s not BELOVED.

Kate Winslet, for example, was beloved at the same age Margo is now..and Margo isn’t quite there yet.

I Tonya wasn’t panned and was an audience hit placing second at TIFF People Choice. Janney was more overdue than Chastain as well. There is no path for Chastain to win and it’s fruitless to entertain this idea. It’s better to look at Nicole Kidman as a possible alternative to Stewart.

Neither is The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

Stewart will receive a tribute at the Gotham Awards.

The movie is not eligible there, but they wanted to give her something anyway.

Both “overdue” and “panned” are egregiously overused.

This. The Eyes of Tammy Faye has a 64% on RT and a 54 on MC. Don’t know it what world is that considered panned.

And Margot Robbie is not overdue for an Oscar. The things you read in here…

    Just a few thoughts.

Kristen seems to be our easy front-runner here. The thing that helps her that many people act like she’s a lock for the win already. This doesn’t necessarily means that she’s actually a lock, but the buzz is crazy and it’s presenting its goal like it was an undeniable option. The situation reminds me of Renée Zellweger’s case from two years ago. Early release movie, acclaimed performance, and a bunch of film geeks trying to find an alternative (who is our Scarlett Johansson?) until they finally realize that there isn’t one.

Arguing that Jessica Chastain isn’t as respected as Allison Janney is pointless. Both are respected in a different way. Chastain is obviously more respected as  a film actress with prominent Oscar baits in her filmography, which means that she’s seen twice as due for a win than Janney did in 2018, while Janney is more respected as a performer/artist in the industry.

And this is what I was talking about. Why are they giving actors honorary awards for campaign purposes. If her film was not eligible, she should not be rewarded with anything.

Same thing goes for Halle and Jessica, who both received/are receiving honorary awards.

Doesn’t your movie need to be invited to festivals and actually attened them to campaign? So far it’s been standard movie promoting with premiers only. I need disney to step it up after she finishes filming. I’m talking parties and magazine covers.

she’s actually doing some promotion… (graham norton tonight, and jimmy fallon next week)

thats the game, honey!! And Kristen has been an indie actress far more than either of them. Its not like giving one to Emma Watson!

Amy Adams can’t even win an Emmy.

She’s literally only been nominated once and she lost to someone else with an overdue narrative and a more recent performance. It’s not like the industry has put some sort of curse on Amy Adams lmao.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight" and "The Other Two" in all categories.
