For f^%$ sake could this forum stop talking about box office? It’s literally irrelevant this year. If there ever was a year similar to 2020 when it doesn’t matter, it’s 2021. Almost every film that isn’t a big budget spectacle is underperforming at the box-office. Not a single BP nominee will do big numbers, not even Dune. That also applies for practically 80% of the potential nominees in other categories.

    calm your tits ffs

Sadly, Golden Globes will still play a role in shaping the race, even without a telecast.

Yes, but a much smaller role than they usually do.

All this bad Netflix press over Dave Chapelle WILL impact them this award’s season. It’s good news for Kristen Stewart, Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, Jodie Comer, Jennifer Hudson and any contenders not associated with a Netflix film. Olivia Colman and Halle Berry might pay the price.

Back in 2003, when the Devil Weinstien ruled, 3 BA nominees were from Miramax.

With the limited access today because of Covid, it is possible for there to be 3 BA from Netflix.

Bohemian Rhapsody was directed by a literal abuser, and that won four Oscars and was nominated for Best Picture. A similar controversy happened last year with Cuties, and that ended up going exactly nowhere.

For better or for worse, Netflix will be fine.

    EMMYS FYC
Dickinson – Hailee Steinfeld, Anna Baryshnikov
Kevin Can F**k Himself – Mary Hollis Inboden
    Only Murders – James Caverley
The Other Two – Drew Tarver, Heléne Yorke
    Physical – Rose Byrne
    Schmigadoon! – Ariana DeBose
The White Lotus – Alexandra Daddario

Netflix can only take so much backlash…

Just last year Hillbilly Elegy came under a backlash because it’s based on the memoirs of a pro Trump republican and Shia LaBeouf. was sued for his abusive behaviour against his ex girlfriend and Glenn Close and Vanessa Kirby still got nominated (the latter of which being the only non McDormand actress nominee to get in everywhere last year).

Colman, Berry and Thompson won’t be affected by bad press that is around Dave Chapelle’s actions and not theirs.

    FYC:
    Picture: Passing/The Power of the Dog/Shiva Baby/Spencer
    Director: Jane Campion/Rebecca Hall/Pablo Larrain
    Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch/Andrew Garfield/Winston Duke
    Actress: Olivia Colman/Kristen Stewart/Tessa Thompson
    S. Actor: Richard E. Grant/Troy Kotsur/Kodi Smit-McPhee
    S. Actress : Kirsten Dunst/Claire Foy/Jayne Houdyshell/Martha Plimpton/Ruth Negga/Diana Rigg/Anya Taylor-Joy
    O. Screenplay: Bergman Island/Mass/Nine Days
    A. Screenplay: The Lost Daughter/Passing/The Power of the Dog/Shiva B

Well on Lucie Arnazs’ recent video on BTR (Instagram), looks like she highly adores the film. I reckon not only Nicole Kidman will be nominated but if Arnaz was placing emphasis on Kidman when talking about how well she did, she might actually win an academy award this year.

Excited to see the trailer next week!
