The most common people being predicted for this category (besides Chastain and Stewart) are Colman, Cruz, Hudson, McDormand and Kidman who all have acting Oscars. Assuming Stewart and Chastain make it, that’s 3 previous winners competing.

Has that ever happened before where you have three or more women in Lead Actress who’ve already won an acting Oscar?

    2013 anyone?

And Nicole Kidman just entered the conversation with that preview. Damn I was shocked on how good that looks

At this point, Stewart definitely has the inside lane. Chastain gave a very good performance, but it’ll be the only nomination Tammy Faye gets (outside of Makeup). I have McDormand and Colman in there as well, but I doubt either of them win again so soon. The fifth spot is the wild card: depending on how well House of Gucci is received, it could go to Gaga, or (more likely at this point) Hudson. (Cruz, unfortunately, is probably out of the running: Parallel Mothers not getting the International nod from Spain was probably fatal to its Oscar hopes.)

    2013 anyone?

That was a good lineup that year. Bullock, Blanchett and Demch gave their career best performances and even though American Hustle was quite mediocre and self-indulgent, Amy Adams was quite good in it (at least in retrospect to her cast mates).

Greta Gerwig should have been nominated for Frances Ha though.

I’m a little suspicious that they didn’t show much of her face–not to be shallow, but I wonder how someone with as much work done as Kidman will pull off Lucy’s expressiveness. But she got the voice down pat.

I’m in the minority here but I didn’t like that teaser at all, and I expect critics to have their knives out. I love Nicole, but not feeling her for a nom. I was skeptical of Chastain but I’m coming around, I’ll start predicting her. And everyday I’m more convinced Stewart is winning, there just doesn’t seem to be a big enough threat to stop her.

    whats your lineup?

Kristen, Penelope, Olivia, Chastain, McDormand. Halle or Cate as alternative.

Im just hoping for a nomination for both or either one of them.

Please, I’m rooting for Halle. It’d be incredible to see her back.

    Yip after 20 long years.

I don’t understand the hate with Nicole ☹️

I wouldn’t call it hate. Skepticism, maybe.
