The best actress race this year is so weird. Like, after Kristen Stewart, you really don’t know who’s gonna be in the mix because they each have such a striking factor going against their chances most notably the little to zero hype and buzz for them or for their movies. Kristen Stewart is really the only one 100% sure and bulletproof contender right now. Everyone else is a question mark.
house of Gucci does not have zero buzz…November 12, 2021 at 11:43 am #1204574558
Right now, Kristen Stewart remains the front-runner. I don’t know why some are saying Gaga is going to win when she is not even a lock to get nominated. I have her in my top 5, but I am just saying she is not a 100% lock to get nominated.November 12, 2021 at 11:52 am #1204574574
I’m so curious for HOG, can’t wait to watch itNovember 12, 2021 at 11:54 am #1204574582
I need to watch HOG before I can say I want Gaga to win BA.
I say this as a long time fan, I definitely want to see her win an acting Oscar, but I also want her win to be indisputable. Not at all like Cher winning for Moonstruck.
(Can you tell I’m still bitter Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction was overlooked?)November 12, 2021 at 11:55 am #1204574585
Jodie Comer deserves more than some names mentioned here. She should be part of this conversation.November 12, 2021 at 12:12 pm #1204574603
Mid-November Prediction; 1- Kristen Stewart 2- Olivia Colman 3- Lady Gaga 4- Frances McDormand 5- Alana Haim Alt: Nicole Kidman, Tessa Thompson, Jessica Chastain, Halle Berry I’m hoping Halle makes a big splash in these next few weeks and that Tessa Thompson gets a boost from the critics groups because this line up is looking way too bland at the moment.

Oh, come on. Gaga’s getting praise left and right, even from the people who aren’t loving the movie. Her name and the hype around this performance is almost guaranteeing her a nomination.
Even as a gaga Stan i just don’t believe she can win. I’m sure she’ll be great but it just seems kind of unlikely atm
I’m in the same boat as you, but there is still a lot of time for Gaga to campaign, and she’s been going big these last few days. If Gucci does well at the box office and Gaga continues being Gaga, her starpower might give her the advantage.November 12, 2021 at 12:31 pm #1204574642
Things are currently looking good for Tessa Thompson. Passing is currently at #7 on Netflix Top 10 (#3 for films) which is somewhat unexpected. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 90% Critics Score and a 91% Audience score. It also trended on Twitter with mostly positive feedback and “blown away” reactions (for the ending of course). People are definitely talking about Passing.
Tessa is coming!

So……. I AM actually very surprised by this tbh. I obviously love it, you all know that, but it definitely seems like a film not everybody would like, maybe even strongly dislike? Everyone I know has been telling me they love it! Like people on the other side of globe are like “holy shit why didn’t you tell us it was THIS good” lol
Justice for Passing, Tessa Thompson & Ruth Negga.
The Power of the Dog / Jane Campion / Benedict Cumberbatch / Kristen Stewart / Kirsten Dunst / Troy KotsurNot now
