There are still some bad reactions for Kidman and Stewart. Y’all should be honest sometimes.

Thanks for saying reactions instead of reviews, boo. 😉

(lol I’m saying that very earnestly. Really, thank you! As you can tell, I’m finicky about these distinctions and I’m sure that makes many hate me).

    FYC:
Picture: Passing, The Power of the Dog, The Lost Daughter, Drive My Car
    Director: Jane Campion, Rebecca Hall
    Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch, Hidetoshi Nishijima
Actress: Tessa Thompson, Olivia Colman, Kristen Stewart
Supporting Actress: Kirsten Dunst, Ruth Negga, Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Martha Plimpton
Supporting Actor: Troy Kotsur, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jesse Plemons

Were there not bad reactions for Gaga?

I think Thompson could happen but as usual most people here stan and fight over the white contenders and immediately drop the POC ones barely to mention them again once a new whitey gets some positive reactions from pundits.

1% of reviews for Stewart is bad. Rest is universal praise that no other competitor has yet to replicate.

Hmmm, I agree. I think Colman & Cruz come close, but they’re already Oscar winners so Stewart’s praise is definitely heightened because of the somewhat “breakout” nature of the role i.e. it’s her Oscar vehicle.

I think if it wasn’t for the fact that Passing is not entirely a one-woman show like Spencer is, Thompson comes close? More praise for Hall overall than Thompson though, which is still good?

Stewart getting universal best performance in years raves is great considering Larraín and Greenwood also garnered a similar passionate reception. Stewart elevates the already excellent material.

Lol Bardem IS an A-lister. He’s a bigger A lister than Will Smith or Cumberbatch.

    He is not lol

To be fair, she got one (ONE) negative review from A.A Dowd from A.V Club who think she was miscast as Diana. But other than that its all raves and acclaim
