I haven’t seen Licorice Pizza yet, but a friend of mine saw it and told me he won’t be shocked if Alana gets nominated because she’s that good in it. All the praise she’s gotten in reviews so far increased my excitement to see her in the film.November 26, 2021 at 7:49 pm #1204608591

Chris James says on Letterboxd about Being The Ricardos:
Such a fun watch! Sorkin’s best directorial effort by far (but that’s a bit of faint praise).
Never doubt Kidman. She nails the precision of Lucy’s comedy and allows us to see a new side of her off camera. It’s another incredible performance from her. The movie is most successful when it’s exploring the many friends fractures behind the scenes of I Love Lucy (a great ensemble). The frequent flashbacks are less successful and feel at odds with a final act that was tense, but maybe didn’t earn the payoff we got.
All in all, the perfect watch for the holidays. Parents will LOVE it!November 26, 2021 at 7:57 pm #1204608598
I think it’s a big deal that Variety now has Kidman overtaking Stewart for the first time in the race. For a while there it seemed Stewart had no real competition for the Oscar now it seems it will be a real cliff hanger to the end.
CD from Variety
“Nicole Kidman’s Lucielle Ball lived up to the hype, and then some. A second viewing of the film has convinced me that she has the goods to go all the way. This is heightened more by the divisive nature of the “House of Gucci,” “The Lost Daughter” and “Spencer,” with the three leading ladies of the films – Lady Gaga, Olivia Colman and Kristen Stewart feeling safe for noms but not foregone conclusions for trips to the Oscar stage.”
Variety’s Updated Predictions
1 Nicole Kidman
“Being the Ricardos”
2 Kristen Stewart
3 Lady Gaga
“House of Gucci”
4 Olivia Colman
“The Lost Daughter”
5 Penélope Cruz
“Parallel Mothers”November 26, 2021 at 8:34 pm #1204608635
I just hate the name “liquorice pizza” my goodness.
A little bit of Magic never hurt anybody.

I think Kidman, Stewart, Gaga, and Colman are becoming locks. The fifth slot will likely remain a mystery until the very end.November 26, 2021 at 8:43 pm #1204608652
What’s up with Jennifer Lawrence. People on other sites are raving about her but here and some other outlets she’s barely making the top 10.November 26, 2021 at 8:44 pm #1204608654
I swear, I hear more about Gaga stans than I hear from Gaga stans on hereNovember 26, 2021 at 9:01 pm #1204608665

Wait until the movie comes out. Im pretty sure she’s not out of race. I only heard great things about her tooNovember 26, 2021 at 9:02 pm #1204608667
Good to see even Gaga doubters add her back. Sasha Stone updated her predictions:
“But Brent Lang over at Variety says that early numbers on House of Gucci are promising, showing that Lady Gaga is able to pull in larger numbers than some of the other Oscar movies. Remember, it’s not exactly rocket science — Hollywood and the Oscars especially aim their product at one demographic: upper middle-class and educated. Those are the exact people who are most likely not to turn out to see the movies in theaters. But House of Gucci might be one of the movies they will brave the risks to see.”November 26, 2021 at 10:36 pm #1204608761
Said the user with a Naomi Watts avi who has 4 Razzie nominations and tones of shitty flop movies that are panned on Metacritic or completely Rotten.
