Nyfcc does not predict winners…gave a very nice boost to Gaga for the nomination but the last nyfcc best actress to win Oscar was Cate who swept the critics awards. Gaga is definitely peaking at right time.

Chastain is in unless she misses SAG. She is in full campaign mode and is well liked among the elite actors circle.

What the hell does he mean by ‘mission accomplished’? Just ridiculous and unethical I have to say.

That he wanted her to win and she did. Pretty easy to understand.

    I would say:

    1. Kidman
    2. Stewart
    3. Gaga
    4. Colman
    5. Zegler
    6. Haim
    7. Hudson
    8. Chastain
    9. Cruz
    10. Berry

With 3-8 being within milimetres of each other.

I actually think that Gaga is going to push her out. She is getting nominated almost everywhere (until now) and won a highly respected trifecta award as well.  Seems like Chastain is going to be snubbed again. But we have to wait for the other awards as well.

Stewart has hit precursors like Palm Springs which is a good predictor of nominations at least. She also has Gotham, she is very much in race. Just that apart from Nicole and Kristen, the race for nominees widens. And Gaga is looking very likely, if critics who hated the movie voted her as top performance, she is definitely strong for the nomination. Chastain too has won precursors from industry, she too should be safe, the actual people who need critics were Colman, Cruz and Haim, and so far not enough love.

Lol, Colman doesn’t need critics awards.

The good news for Gaga is that she plays a meaty, scenery-chewing role that Oscar voters often gravitate towards, in a studio film that’s already getting a major awards push. When NYFCC is out of sync with Oscars, it’s usually because the critics choose a less prominent indie, which often have a tougher time building momentum against big-budget studio awards campaigns. That won’t be a problem for Gaga, and the singer-actress is already a known quantity to the Oscars, who nominated her for Best Actress and Best Original Song for “A Star is Born” three years ago, with her winning the latter.

Miss Gold Derby spitting facts here.

I agree. If she gets that nomination, I would say that makes her win competitive at the Oscars (and the SAG, of course). If she misses, though, then I would think she’s still got a shot at getting nominated at the Oscars but definitely not winning.

Naah, Gaga will push Colman/cruz/haim/zegler out. Chastain has industry precursors, is still campaigning, is getting nominated for all critics awards and has a very baity role which sag will eat up.

Ever since SAG joined forces with AFTRA, it began to look like they need an opportunity to award a singer in lead. This may be their chance with Gaga as their best option since Hudson isn’t deserving of a second win and Haim is definitely not getting nominated there

    Laga Gaga for Best Actress.
