It’s getting quite obvious some accounts are being run by the same person lol.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Of course, that could mean #2, could mean out of the Top 5 altogether. Hard to read the tea leaves jussssst yet. via awards watch who will be representing woc if ever there’s one? Jhud Tessa Halle
I saw some other people say the same thing as Erik, that makes me wonder.
Tho JHud will probably remain the most likely WOC contender till the end unless someone surprises out of a festival or Passing becomes bigger than I anticipated

August 7, 2021 at 12:02 pm #1204385869I think Hudson is getting nominated, but she won’t win.
August 7, 2021 at 12:31 pm #1204385882tbh yes she doesn’t have a great filmography but there are few films there truly proving that she is a better actress than a lot of people trying to make her seem like. i hope spencer wont be a total flop and she will have another chance to prove herself as a serious actress
I don’t have a strong opinion about her but I do make a distinction between her acting talent and her role selection. In general, to the extent I haven’t been overly impressed by her, I attribute that in part to her role selection. A number of her peers seem to have made better ones, and presumably, after the success of the Twilight series, she would have had some good opportunities that she either passed on or didn’t pursue.
August 7, 2021 at 1:52 pm #1204385942i am more excited for your temper tantrums and meltdowns tbh
Tony is going to have a heart attack if the haters succeed. I may even be tempted to leave this wonderful forum and y’all are gonna miss me. I can’t take it. But the Academy won’t dare mess me up like that. I’ll have the last laugh and you know the last laugh is always the best..cheers
Gaga is slaying in Folie à Deux
August 7, 2021 at 2:01 pm #1204385953It’s really all so tiresome. There’s haters and there’s stans and then there’s the people in the middle who stans lump in with the haters. Why can’t you get a deep breath and realize that Lady Gaga should be under just as much scrutiny as everyone else. Don’t you see how much Kristen Stewart’s acting gets scrutinized, but somehow only one post has noted that Gaga was atrocious in AHS:Hotel?
Maybe just maybe it’s not sufficient to say “when she comes y’all will be XYZ” because A, we’re all anonymous lol, B, we’re almost ALL predicting her right now anyway!
Also, I do agree that there’s an obsession with “English rose actresses” lol but since Gaga’s not a WOC or an unknown actress, I’m not sure……..that comparison works very well. If anything you should use it to argue for Taylour Paige in Zola.
To be entirely clear: I don’t know how Gaga will be in HoG. She is one of the most talented musical wunderkinds of the past few decades—when I look at ASIB, it seems so obvious to me that she would grab ahold of everyone’s heart while singing (I wasn’t a hater then). I am growing more skeptical of HoG, but I can see her giving the kind of performance that Cher gave in Moonstruck. All I’ll say is that the tone the film is trying to do is pretty hard. Even the best actors would probably struggle with it.

??? You’re not even a good comedy account like Margaret Thatcher, why talk about yourself in the third person lol, nobody knows who Tony-the-Gaga-lookalike is!

AftersunAugust 7, 2021 at 2:07 pm #1204385961Carey is a way better actress tho. As much as I hate PYW at least it got her name more well known. Also, aside from Harley Quinn I failed to see Margot nailing any part. But thats just a personal take.
I love you …but you shouldn’t shit on Margot Robbie like that. She would have nailed PYW and she deserved the following: win for I, Tonya and Bombshell, nominations for Wolf of Wall Street and Mary Queen of Scots. Robbie is a superb actress. Mulligan is already ridiculously overrated on here

August 7, 2021 at 2:09 pm #1204385965I don’t know if I’ll be called a stan or a hater for what I’m about to say, but I don’t really care. As someone who doesn’t particularly like Kristen Stewart as an actress but also doesn’t dislike her, this is my more nuanced perspective.
Twilight was ages ago and even people who’ve never watched any of Stewart’s indie work will be aware of the fact that she’s done indie work and gotten acclaim for it. So I don’t think anybody is going to watch Spencer and go, “this is the actress that was terrible in Twilight, so I ain’t voting for her.” That’s just not how industry people, most of who are jobbers that take whatever job puts money in their pockets, think. And especially not now that Stewart has distanced herself from Twilight and gone the opposite direction.
I also don’t think Stewart is winning for this unless she sweeps critics awards or something. It doesn’t really sound like your typical Oscar bait and Stewart is not really a transformational actor that can win for a movie like this without a critical sweep. I think a nomination will be her reward.
I’ve heard word from the Spencer test screening from people I trust, so at this point I am predicting Stewart for a nomination. But I am also confident she’s not winning. Let time be the judge.

AftersunAugust 7, 2021 at 2:17 pm #1204385988I wonder how the current state of pandemic will affect the oscars race? I mean movies can get delayed again., smaller movies like bruised and being ricardos won’t have a problem but movies like dune and west side can be moved yet again. Box office numbers are silly right now we are in a Pandemic three states are out of beds Florida, Al, & Texas. People are refusing to get vaccinated now.
August 7, 2021 at 2:17 pm #1204385990Saw a screening of Respect last night. People will pick at the run time and you can feel the two voices in the script. That said, Hudson delivers. The audience ate it up, people cheered after “Ain’t No Way” and her performance of “Amazing Grace” seals the deal. It will be an uphill battle for the win, but I think a nomination is a lock. General audiences are going to love it.
