Who in the running has a trifecta + GG and CCA?
So far Gaga. But someone else might join her on Saturday. Could be Haim, Stewart or even Chastain who knows.
January 6, 2022 at 8:11 pm #1204701721Gaga has not won the Trifecta. She only won NYFCC. And has been mostly ignored by regional critics.
Trifecta is what Marion Cotillard Isabelle Huppert and Charlotte Rampling won.

I’m talking about winning one of the trifecta (NYFCC, NSFC and LAFCA). No actress in this century has ever won a trifecta (as in at least one of those 3) in combination with GG/CCA nominations and missed at the Oscars.

January 6, 2022 at 8:15 pm #1204701734probably cuz PSFF was completely cancelled whereas NYFCC is postponed to a later date in which I’m sure she’ll acknowledge once the ceremony gets a firm date
This.
However after 2 years we’re in a pandemic I just don’t get how they’re not able to make an event with following all the Covid protocols, considering Restaurants and cinemas are still open and people can attend with vaccine certificate, masks, ecc, this ceremony was fun the past years, they should have rescheduled it.

One of those moments you say “Ok, she’s taking it”. Best casting ever?

And Cate Blanchett played Katherine Hepburn and won an Oscar for it. The Carol parallelisms never end. Congratulations to Academy Award winner Rooney Mara.

It’s very clear what @M meant. ☠️

Maybe so, but it’s still very odd for her to not have acknowledged it online. She did mention it in an interview, though.

Where did anyone say she won the Trifecta? M’s analysis is that the combo of Globes nom + Critics Choice nom + one win at ANY of the Trifecta awards (in Gagas case, NYFCC) makes a strong candidate for an Oscar nom.
Ofc they could end up being wrong since this is a unconventinal year with Globes controversy + no broadcast, plus COVID changing plans.

“On American television there are few classic stars more beloved than Lucille Ball. Rising to the challenge of playing such an iconic talent, Nicole Kidman delivers a truly spot-on performance in capturing both the on-camera comic timing and off-camera bravery that made Lucy an unstoppable force in the 1950s and 60s,” said Festival Chairman Harold Matzner. “For this role, in the wake of her many other outstanding performances, we are thrilled to present the prestigious Career Achievement Award to Nicole Kidman.”

When I think of the trifecta, it is in connection with the same performance. Isabelle Huppert won the trifecta for the same film (i.e., NYFC, LAFC, NSFC) but Marion (LA and NSFC only for La Vie en Rose and NYFC for Two Days One Night) and Charlotte (LA and NSFC only for 45 Years) did not. Cate Blanchett won the trifecta (all 3) for Blue Jasmine as well while Helen Mirren and Holly Hunter won the trifecta and NBR for the same performance (the Queen and The Piano, respectively). I am sure there are a few others.

This is great casting. Apple has done an impressive job with building their slate too (Kitbag with Ridley, an untitled movie that will have Brad Pitt and George Clooney teaming up again).
