    Online Film Critics Society Noms

    BEST LEAD ACTRESS
Olivia Colman – The Lost Daughter
    Alana Haim – Licorice Pizza
Renate Reinsve – The Worst Person in the World
    Agathe Rousselle – Titane
    Kristen Stewart – Spencer

This is the largest critics group, as of January 2020, there were 284 members worldwide.

This group has always included the Oscar winner since 2010 in their noms.

If anyone you have time and cash to spare, I highly recommend watching The Novice. It’s on YouTube for rental or purchase. Outstanding story, score, and a tour de force performance from Isabelle Fuhrman. By far, the best leading performance of the year. Check it out!

FYI – the chart posted by lipabridgerstwigs is not quite correct.

I know this because I love Cate Blanchett and I was disappointed when she didn’t win NBR for Blue Jasmine – That was Emma Thompson for Saving Mr. Banks and Helen Mirren won all four majors: NBR, NSFC, NY and LA so that’s not correct also.

Nonetheless, the statement may still be correct but I didn’t check the entire chart.

That’s why it will resonate with the Academy. As  I said before. I’m confident with my prediction with Nicole winning. Nicole has the winning package likability of the actress, role and maybe not so much film but she has 2 of those which will propel her to win.You need 1 one those to win the big prize. Maybe Arianda too for Best Supporting Actress.

I just did some researching and found that all Best Actress winners this century (with the exception of Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock) have at least been nominated here.

It is the biggest critics group (since the LFCC Film Segment has 180 members that is the next biggest one). Sandra Bullock and i think one more this century wasn’t included.

    I’m thinking:

    1. Nicole Kidman

    2. Lady Gaga

    3. Olivia Colman

    4. Jessica Chastain

    5. Kristen Stewart

Kidman and Gaga are undoubtedly benefitting from their films having presences in other categories, and are the ONLY 2  to get in at AACTA, GG, CC, SAG, and BAFTA Longlist. Gaga also won a Trifecta award and her film made SAG Ensemble, while Kidman has now won the Golden Globe, and is in a film that can pick up maybe 1-2 more Acting nominations and a Scr nomination.

While Lucille Ball may not be as famous as she was in the U.S., the theme of BTR will still garner attention and recognition from international voters. Even if they don’t know much about Lucille, they know the industry/behind the scene, the life struggles as an actor and producer, being a middle age woman in show biz, and the commitment it takes to do entertainment.
