Wow, Tom Holland is moderating a virtual Q&A with Benedict Cumberbatch for The Power of the Dog tomorrow, for industry voters. Netflix coming to play. pic.twitter.com/mEZtCAY75y

The results are interesting, there seems to be an overlap (with BAFTA). I think there could be a scenario where TPOD wins Best Film/Picture and Villenueve wins Best Director.
But we wanted Campion for Best Director 💀January 25, 2022 at 9:40 pm #1204749683
Not AACTA denying Campion!
Anyway, Congrats to Nicole – expected but deserved just the same.January 25, 2022 at 9:51 pm #1204749691
Belfast wins supporting actress but for…Judi Dench? That’s so unexpected. Don’t get me wrong I know she’s very respected, I just thought most attention goes to Caitriona Balfe. But anyway I’m happy for Judi. She’s also in Bafta longlist so maybe she has a chance of nomination there.January 25, 2022 at 9:52 pm #1204749695
I love Judi Dench so I’m glad at any award she gets.January 25, 2022 at 10:23 pm #1204749738
The AACTA winners for Best Actress have aligned with the Oscars 6 out of the past 10 years since their inception in 2011. Obviously slanting towards Aussie talent like Cate Blanchett and Margot Robbie for the win above their international competition but still a decent track record.
I remember they were the first major Awards to give Olivia Colman the best actress for The Favourite when everyone else thought it was between Glenn Close and Lady Gaga.
Still a great win for Kidman and only helps strengthen her chances moving forward.
AACTA Best Actress Winners
2011 Meryl Streep, same Oscar Winner
2012 Jennifer Lawrence, same Oscar Winner
2013 Cate Blanchett, same Oscar Winner
2014 Julianne Moore, same Oscar Winner
2015 Cate Blanchett, different Oscar Winner
2016 Emma Stone, same Oscar Winner
2017 Margot Robbie, different Oscar Winner
2018 Olivia Colman, same Oscar Winner
2019 Saoirse Ronan, different Oscar Winner 2020 Carey Mulligan, different Oscar Winner
2021 Nicole Kidman ??January 25, 2022 at 10:49 pm #1204749775
AACTA love their own like BAFTA. Most likely Coleman will win the BAFTA and the winner most likely will be from BAFTANot now
