This is purely subjective and presumptive.
This is not a model to predict nominees. It’s just to understand how the Oscar nomination system works.
I used real names just so that it’s easier to look at and understand than X, Y, Z..
January 28, 2022 at 1:54 pm #1204757046The names don’t mean anything. It’s randomly generated Oscar ballots that are counted in the same way the Oscars determine the nominees.
Community votes = number of times someone appeared on a ballot
#1 votes = number of times someone recieved a #1 vote
The list of nominees you see, is the five contenders who made it after 10 rounds of elimination. Basically, in each round the contender with the least amount of #1 votes gets eliminated, and all of their ballots get redistributed (if #2 was already nominated/eliminated, it goes to #3 etc..)
Okay. I’ll disregard the names.
Thank you 😊
January 28, 2022 at 1:58 pm #1204757057This year makes me so sad. Movies weren’t very good and everyone is debating about who will win with bad performances and bad films. This race should be: Martha Plimpton, Penélope Cruz, Renate Reinsve, Olivia Colman, Tessa Thompson.

January 28, 2022 at 2:29 pm #1204757095Parallel Mothers is finally released wide in the UK this weekend, even at my local Cineworld which usually focuses on blockbusters primarily. I’m not sure why it was left so late unlike Pain and Glory, but a miracle can still happen to bring some taste to this lineup. Excited to go watch again at the cinema!

This makes me think that someone like Stewart can garner many #1 and #2 rankings but also may be excluded in many ballots. As for Haim, she can also garner many #1 and #2 rankings and be included in many more ballots as her film will be widely seen.
I’d still keep an eye out for Haim. She’s fresh to acting, has been compared to Joaquin Phoenix, and could have Bradley coattail her (in supporting). It also helps her that she doesn’t have to share the screen with Elg*rt for the majority of her movie 💀.
