With all the constant talk that goes on in this forum about Gaga’s performance, I have to say I was expecting much more than what I found to be just an okay and at times hammy performance.
February 5, 2022 at 2:15 pm #1204777180Clayton Davis room on twitter and he said that Feinberg told him, Gaga might not have been TOP2 at BAFTA, he is leaning Jones and Reinsve as a top2 at BAFTA….. i-
LMAO 🤣 🤣 🤣 . There is no way in hell a Jury would select Gaga over any of the other contenders on the long list. Gaga got the members vote. Clayton is just drawing at straws to try and justify his abysmal predictions. Its an embarrassment for any entity to consider him an expert. I think incompetent is more appropriate. Its time for Variety and Gold Derbey to find a new ‘expert’.
February 5, 2022 at 2:15 pm #1204777182Emilia Jones wasn’t that hard to guess as possible BAFTA nominee with jury, she is British, she got some critic mentions, the movie has been nominated in several precursors and it’s in the contention, so it wasn’t that hard guessing than the BAFTA with the new jury system could have picked her between new and less popular actors, especially a younger British actress. These pundits just thrown some names and see what stucks.
Yes, I know but the weird thing is that looking at his final Oscar noms, he propably believes Jones has support, I am shocked he doesn’t mention Haim at all. I expect Haim to be nominated if she was top2. We will see on Tuesday.
February 5, 2022 at 2:17 pm #1204777184This is Feinberg Final Oscar noms prediction BEST ACTRESS Projected Nominees Lady Gaga (House of Gucci) Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter) Penélope Cruz (Parallel Mothers) Emilia Jones (CODA) Alternate Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) Potential Surprise Kristen Stewart (Spencer) Shoulda Been a Contender Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) His prediction last year before the Oscar noms : *BEST ACTRESS* Projected Nominees Frances McDormand (Nomadland) Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) — podcast Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman) Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday) — podcast Alternate Sophia Loren (The Life Ahead) — podcast Potential Surprise Yeri Han (Minari) Shoulda Been a Contenda Julia Garner (The Assistant) — podcast
If your point is that Feinberg had the correct top 5 last year so we should respect his predictions this year, I note that MANY, if not most people correctly predicted last year’s five Best Actress nominees. I’m more impressed that he correctly predicted McDormand to win in his final column when so many others were picking Davis or Mulligan.

Her acting choices for this role is not what highbrow critics would like, those subtle, down to earth style performances (which in some scenes she did that kind of performance perfectly, the smoking scene and the photo scene for example). But anyone studied her original character know how accurate her performance is. Patrizia has a performer personality, and I love how she embodied that role so well. Acting with accent also is a tough job, but she did it beautifully.

I am just sharing it, he is having all his predictions archived here, you can see them on each stage:

He is predicting an Emilia Jones nomination now. He thinks she is popular. Like no jury could give you an Oscar nom. It is a very tough call to say it. No experts are predicting Jones and it sounds strange. I think he is wrong and Haim will be nominated.

Can’t believe he is even paid to make this pseudo journalism, he should work for C list gossip magazines.

He’s definitely trying to make a guess different from other pundits and if it happens to be right (even a broken clock is right twice a day), he will try to get credit for it as one of the only who saw it in advance.

of course I respect your take on it, but I just couldn’t connect with the performance much. Also, I think it’s such a cop out when people always put the lack of critical love that a performance gets down to it not being subtle because a lot of the most acclaimed performances are loud and extravagant.

Yes, I will safely predict Haim now, because Jones wasn’t that discussed this season. Also, don’t know if this Emilia Jones prediction has to do with something other pundits are saying that CODA has a late resurgence with voters, like the people in FYC say that lately.
February 5, 2022 at 2:44 pm #1204777234If Haim was not top 2 at BAFTA, who (besides Gaga) was also top 2?
