    The composite Telluride poll

    1) The Power of the Dog (8.95) [2/1]
    2) Belfast (8.42) [3/4]
    3) The Rescue (8.13) [6/2]
    4) Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (8.01) [1/10]
    5) King Richard (7.98) [7/5]
    6) Spencer (7.77) [4/12]
    7) Red Rocket (7.63) [5/15]
    8) C’mon C’mon (7.58) [9/6)
    9) Cyrano (7.08) [11/8]
    10) The Lost Daughter (6.92) [10/14]
    11) The French Dispatch (5.55) [12/17]
    12) Encounter (5.14) [13/18]

The composite poll always gets BP right but we’ll see. After seeing the trailers for Pizza and Nightmare Alley I still think this is ultimately between TPOTD and Belfast.

It’s not listed (yet?) as a choice we can include in our predictions but if available, would anyone include Flee in their predictions? (It currently has a 100% RT rating after 49 reviews and an 88 Metacritic score after 11 reviews.) I know that it’s rare for an animated film to get a Best Picture nomination, and this is not only animated, but is also a quasi-documentary. It’s being distributed by Neon.

This film may compete in up to 4 different categories:

    Best Animated Feature
    Best Documentary Feature
    Best International Feature Film
    Best Picture

My bet is that it will get the nomination as animated feature ( winner) and as documentary feature ( potential winner )  . I think they will prioritize other films with bigger budget for  the international award  and even more for best picture. In fact, I don’t remember any documentary film nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture.

Why do you think Nightmare Alley is not in the fight?

Too dark? Way darker than TSOW. But it’s definitely in my top 3 and I might change my mind after watching it.

I hope pundits will stop predicting The Tragedy of MacBeth now.

But the trailer looks great? If it’s bad we’ll find out on Friday.

Not talking about quality here. It looks like an arthouse movie based on German Expresssionism movies. No wonder it’s on A24.

The cinematography in the trailer looks absolutely stunning. Let’s see how it goes on Friday as you say

I agree it screams A24 lol

Tragedy of Macbeth looks great but it definitely gives me Lighthouse vibes (which is not a bad thing at all but probably means limited awards prospects)

    I’ll wait for the reactions

The Tragedy of Macbeth looks like one of the best films of the year. It also looks like something that has no chance of being touched by The Oscars other than Cinematography.
