Just got out of the Lost Daughter. Without spoiling why, I actually thought the screenplay was the weakest aspect. The direction was very assured, especially for a first time director. Colman is the only Oscar possibility for acting imo but she really shines here. Picture and screenplay are possiblities but I don’t feel as strong about them as I did before.

Dune is not off to a good start by any means. 8 million internationally so far. We can expect to see this same trend next month when it’s released in the States. HBOMax/WB films are flopping left and right now.

Reception for Dune have been very positive in Europe. Critics and general audience seems to like it a lot. Let’s see the boxoffice now

The screenplay was probably too intelligent and conceptual for someone like you to understand.

Its looking to project 20 million for the weekend overseas, sure not total flop, but not at all a good start. It will indeed flop in the US. Do they not have HBOMAX in Europe? If they do, then yeah 20 million is bad.

$30-35M actually, and it’s only debuting in a couple of European markets. It’s a good start and no, HBO Max isn’t available outside the US and Latin America, and the day and date releases from Warner are for the US only.

Isnt this film suppose to be extremely polarizing and nobody would recommend this film to anyone except hardcore cinephiles?

Yeah…the whole divisive thing for tpotd is not working. Critics like it, so does audience. But i wish tiff had given us some surprise contender like Jojo Rabbit…Belfast and Tpotd were in the race already.
