Being the Ricardos is being released later this year itself with a full fledged campaign planned by Amazon.

What is the general consensus of the Green Knight’s odds at the Oscars? I just saw that film and I loved it. It took me completely by surprise and I personally thought everything was pitch perfect.

I can never figure out what the Oscars really dig or not.

Is it possible it might get acting nods. I don’t even see the movie in the prediction centre. So I’m guessing it’s not on anyone’s radar.

It will get a VFX and Production Design nom at best.

If we could just get the same news that Canterbury Glass is still coming out this year, I would be elated.

Thankfully, it seems to be official that it will still come out next year

    Early August Predictions:

    Best Picture:
1: The Power of the Dog (Netflix)
    2: Don’t Look Up (Netflix)
3: The Last Duel (20th Century Studios)
    4: Dune (Warner Bros)
    5: Nightmare Alley (Searchlight Pictures)
    6: Soggy Bottom (MGM)
7: Last Night in Soho (Focus Features)
    8: The Humans (A24)
9: West Side Story (20th Century Studios)
10: The Tragedy of Macbeth (Apple)

Siigh, as much as I love Ridley Scott and all the non Jared Letos of the cast, that trailer has me expecting House of Gucci to be this year’s Hilbilly Elegy. It’s gonna make a lot of money, but it’s not getting a Best Picture nomination.

Looks awesome. I’m loving the reviews. I’m guessing it’ll go the way of Lowery’s last film A Ghost Story (the one where Rooney Mara ate a whole pie in a 20 min scene). It was an acclaimed film but way too art house for the Oscars.

    FYC:
Picture: The Power of the Dog, Passing, The Lost Daughter
    Director: Jane Campion, Rebecca Hall
    Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch
    Actress: Tessa Thompson, Olivia Colman
Supporting Actress: Kirsten Dunst, Ruth Negga, Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley
Supporting Actor: Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jesse Plemons

    Best Picture:
    1. The French Dispatch

    2. The Power of the Dog

    3. Don’t Look Up

    4. Nightmare Alley

    5. The Last Duel

    6. Tragedy of Macbeth

    7. West Side Story

    8. Dune

    9. Last Night in Soho or Belfast

Possible #10 contenders and their cons

    – House of Gucci (First time screenwriter may produce a campy razziefest. Also unlikely two films from one director gets in Best Picture)

    – The Humans (A24 has never gotten 2 films into Best Picture not to mention in some years they have gone years without a BP nomination)

    – Soggy Bottom (MGM may prioritize HoG more for a nomination. Could play like previous PTA films that never got in BP)

    – Tick Tick Boom (Netflix has struggled to get 3 of their films in Best Picture and will face stiff musical competition with West Side Story)

    – The Lost Daughter (No distributor yet. Looks like a Colman only vehicle)

    Michelle Williams Oscar campaign manager.

    6. Dune

    8. Dune

I also think Dune is getting in but let’s not go overboard.

Rumour is that a major streamer has it, just not announced yet.

Not sure if it’s online yet but it just aired on the Olympics (along with an Eternals teaser but that one seemed like mostly footage we’ve already seen)
