at the end of the day it’s easier to nominate Gucci than Spiderman as the most populist film for BP considering its recent signs of strong industry support, plus it’d be a bonus to see these so called pundits & critics meltdown come nomination day

I’m with you.
Like no joke. Spider-Man and even Shang Chi are better movies (and definitely way more entertaining and watchable) than most BP contenders.
No cap

Not a single thing in this film isn’t made of plastic. A factory product through and through. If they want to nominate a blockbuster with heart, I hope they go for No Time to Die. That one was actually quite crafty even though I really didn’t like how they did the ending.

I’ve never seen a movie as unjustly crucified. Taste in general is very subjective. But we can at least be a little bit objective when gauging critical and audience reception.
What personally irks me is how pundits think it’s acceptable for a movie like Don’t Look Up with a rotten 55% score and 78% audience score to get in, but they act shocked and disgusted when a movie with higher score than those get nominated. Like just say that you personally don’t like it, instead of acting like it’s the worst possible nominee. Same with BTR, I bet if it gets in, nobody would be complaining even though it’s 60-68 on MC-RT respectively.
January 20, 2022 at 2:32 am #1204739721If this prevents Gucci and Ricardos from getting in, sure as hell go for it.
Gucci and BTR don’t deserve to get in. The writing for both was atrocious. Instead of going on about why NWY deserves to get into BP, I want the focus to turn to No Time to Die. I enjoyed it more than those 3 films. Why shouldn’t it get nominated?
January 20, 2022 at 2:35 am #1204739724Finally saw The Tragedy of Macbeth and I really enjoyed it. Frances was brilliant as Lady Macbeth. I hope it gets into BP. Kathryn Hunter was my favorite part. She was mesmerizing to watch. I had seen some of her previous work-the fifth HP film and HBO’s Rome-but I was surprised when I checked her IMDb page and saw she had only 26 credits.

After running some analytics, there are two possibilities that I think are still worth discussing:
1. What if the Academy has actually seen Mass? What kind of nomination haul could it pull off?
AND
2. Even after its Globe Drama win, could The Power of the Dog still end up being this year’s Foxcatcher or Carol and miss picture?
Try to set aside your bias and refrain from ripping my head off for suggesting the latter, please.

Just stop.

January 20, 2022 at 3:32 am #1204739779You have to be drunk, high AND delusional to think TPOTD could miss a BP nomination. LMAOOOOOOO.
