I’m hoping no snub at DGA or Oscar. The last think we need is an Argo-style sympathy vote for Belfast.

The one where the four acting performances swept ? (Two of them undeserved, Dern and Pitt) No, thank you.

This year we have 3 unpredictable races in Actor, Actress and Supporting Actor, with Picture unpredictable as well.

Only because people make it more complicated than it is. PotD is winning.

I’m curious how this is only Belfast vs TPOTD What has Belfast done this far to make you believe it’s secured in the top 2? Is it just hopedicting? That’s okay if it is, but can anyone give a reason outside you just wishfully thinking it’s top 2?

West Side Story has almost no chance since it’s a remake of a former best picture winner as well as being a musical imo, Dune also doesn’t have a chance until Part 2 comes out. Licorice Pizza was a possibility at one point but seems to have peaked with film twitter hype.

Belfast seems to be more well liked by the industry than those three since it doesn’t have any of those downsides. I don’t think it should be nominated for Best Picture but it’s still firmly number 2.

I’m surprised that many still Belfast #1 even though TIFF winners lose BP more often than they win.

GG was its first big chance at BP and it stumbled, yet plenty still have faith its either #1 or #2.

It becomes a bit of an echo chamber at times,   I think.

If you want a heartwarming black & white picture choose C’mon C’mon, a far superior film.

If LP does well with AMPAS, PTA has a good shot at OS. This would leave Belfast with 0 wins up to Picture. It’s not winning Picture if that happens.

Bong Joon-ho really helped Minari last year. Let’s hope his positive comments can help DMC as well.

On another note, Cuaron and Del Toro really pushed I’m No Longer Here, but it got snubbed even with Netflix behind it.
