This site is so hilarious to me. They say the four ATL categories that are still up in the air are BP, BD, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor — in three out of four of which TPOTD is the presumed frontrunner. How is BD less locked than, say, actor? I know they’re Will Smith stans and Dog haters, but WTF. The bias from them is so real. I hope TPOTD wins everything, just so their heads can explode.
NBP – Needlessly Bogus Pundits
FYC
Best Picture: "Showing Up" (A24); “Bones & All” (MGM/UA)
Best Director: Kelly Reichardt; Luca Guadagnino
Best Actress: Michelle Williams; Taylor Russell
Best Actor: Timothee Chalamet
Best Supporting Actress: Hong Chau, Heather Lawless, Amanda Plummer; Chloe Sevigny
Best Supporting Actor: Judd Hirsch, Andre Benjamin, John Magaro; Mark Rylance, Andre Holland, Michael Stuhlbarg
Best Original Screenplay: Kelly Reichardt, Jonathan Raymond
Best Adapted Screenplay: David KajganichJanuary 18, 2022 at 8:17 am #1204735730I found this NBP article from last year where they argued how “Trial of the Chicago 7” can still win Best Picture without a Director nod, by snatching Best Editing from “Sound of Metal” and Original Screenplay from Fennell. This is when “Nomadland” had already won PGA, Globe and BAFTA . 😂

I thought these people have been rooting for TPOTD? No?

”I can’t deny the strength that “Belfast” has shown this whole season in dominating predictions and winning the hearts of many, whether they’re sharing such sentiment on Film Twitter or not.”
lmao

They pretend to (occasionally), but absolutely not. It’s easily to tell when they’re rooting against something or -one, like when Neglia was rooting against Davis last year.

Some of them are, I think. I was listening to their podcast yesterday (just part of it because it’s 3 hours long lmao) and while they were still predicting Belfast to win, I got the impression that’s not what they want to happen.
They are very openly rooting against Kidman in Best Actress though.
January 18, 2022 at 8:51 am #1204735782Let’s also not forget how much they hate Kodi. If anyone listened to their Globes reaction pod, you know what I mean.
January 18, 2022 at 8:58 am #1204735797It’s pretty obvious that Jane Campion is the clear frontrunner to win Best Director while TPOTD is really surging in Best Picture.
January 18, 2022 at 9:00 am #1204735800They’re doing everything to push “Belfast” and undermine TPOTD, ignoring at the same time viable contenders like WSS. Neglia in his personal rankings of “Best movies of 2021” on LB has TPOTD at number 6 and Belfast at number 61 (WSS n.8). This shows that some of them don’t even like “Belfast, but they think it’s what the Academy likes. I think that they want to be right when the others aren’t, so that they’ll be considered the “truth tellers” in the next Oscar races.
I’m not saying that the “Spotlight” route is impossible (Picture+Screenplay upset), but I think they’re being dishonest in their analysis for their potential personal gains. It didn’t work last year with Trial so they’re trying it again.

Yeah, that makes sense. But they just aren’t helping themselves. How do they expect to be taken seriously? I also believe their TPoTD support is incredibly performative. Remember when they thought Kodi wasn’t even top 10? Lmao.

Yeah I think you nailed it.
January 18, 2022 at 9:19 am #1204735855Unrelated. But…..
I’m just sitting here quietly thinking about how Brad Pitt is most likely going to win 2 oscars in one night and become a 4 time Oscar winner after the 2023 ceremony.
In case it wasn’t clear what I’m talking about. Best Picture for She Said and Best Supporting Actor for Babylon.
